This is the squad I'm most looking forward to watching a lot of exciting young talent.
Jamie Szczerbanik is in his second year at the helm and fresh off winning the NSWW Cup with the Steelers women.

Mason Andrews, Asher Chapman, Cal Cooney,, Taylor Humphries, Mace Schofield are all players to look out for.

My picks of the squad are,

Ollie Burton a fullback with good size pace and a solid build.

CJ Meafou a edge that already stands 191 cm and 93kg can be very destructive in attack and defence.

Hunter Fangupo is a huge kid that has just realised how damaging he can be when he hits hard. He may not be best on ground but I think he will have a great highlights reel.

Should give the comp a good shake.

St George Dragons Harrold Matts

New coach Reece Regan is from the Penrith St Mary's system and has recruited a lot of players from that area, so a lot of unknowns in this squad.

There is around half a dozen players in their second year that will be inline for selection.

Half Jasais Ah Kee at only 16 was a standout in schoolboys cup playing against 18 yo, I expect him to have a big year.

Phoenix Johns

such a cool name too... I would really love a back or 2 to come through next year that we were 100% sure on.. i.e. this is the one to lock into a contract, dev position and maybe even Top 30 (a bit like we did for all the gun forwards).. every time I look through our backline prospects, apart from probably Kade Reed.. im just not positive that xyz is the future in in <insert position>.. and if you pick it wrong, we probably lose the ones who miss out.

Will be interesting to see which backs shine next year, we are stacked for forwards currently but need some backs, so hoping we can see something in Johns and also Malokai Tomo both centres, look very solid.
Also noticed PJohns was listed in the Dragons HM side that was released a few weeks back..

Phoenix is an interesting one, named in both squads,. I have asked about that waiting to hear back.
A very talent player but does not get involved in the game enough, seems to not give 100%.

Illawarra Steelers SG Ball

Timmo is back as coach with a squad that has been stacked
Millard and Millward have dropped in a lot of Qld signings that would usually end up at Dragons.
Saifiti, Sadler, Philips.

There are a heaps of players already signed long-term but my players to watch out for are Malo Tomo centre and Kapene Karaitana middle.

This squad should start as early favourites for the premiership.

That Steelers HM/SG Squad is so strong.. god I hope we can start to capitalise on what is obviously a great nursery down south.. almost nobody from out of catchment is in those squads..

Its' just that next step of getting them out of SG & ready to dominate Flegg & NSW Cup that is obviously much harder than it seems.

New coach and former Dragon Dezie Nicholls has big shoes to fill.
He cones from Endeavour high bringing Illawarra junior Lewis Sargent Wilson with him.

A lot will riide on Sargent Wilson and his role at 7.
There are a few boys backing up, I expect Halangahu to play and Finau to stay in the NRL squad.
Rissie Smythe and Viliami Hikila played from the bench last year and will both need to step up.

Ty Bursill is another intersting one having also been named in the Wests squad.

My excitement machine to watch is fullback Zailen Campbell-Cook.

What does he look like? Please not another Rumble/Borg style string-beam or Dufty/Sloan/Ramsey/TPH style lightweight. It wouldn't surprise me to see to see Rumble and/or Borg put on a lot of weight and become very good centres.

There is a lot of water to go under the bridge but Baruani was one of the most improved players in the Langer Trophy Year 12 competition this season..
