Rate the Dragons for this year

from 1 to 10, 10 being the best I rate them:
  • Front office: Getting rid of the old-boys culture and as far as I know, sponsorship is surging. High performance centre finalised. No controversies. 8/10
  • Coach: He said it himself in the pre-season. If we are in hunt for a finals berth at the end is a successful season. Unfortunately saved some of the worst for last for last. 7/10
  • Team: A few players let us down again. 5/10
    • I know everyone will pile onto Hunt and it will be correct. He is on the big money to lead the team around but hasn't been doing it.
    • I'm sure Tom Eisenhuth is a top bloke and is a thorough professional but he doesn't do much good.
    • Matt Feagai was re-signed for 3 years but seems scared to tackle. I hope he joins Rava in the never to play first grade again for the Dragons basket after yesterday.
    • Sloan for all his talent misses a lot of tackles, breaks very few, doesn't score or assist in many tries, runs for very few metres.
    • JDB and Su'A carried the pack. They deserve more help and more success.
    • Liddle was ok or good considering the money he is reported to be on.
    • Leilua was also ok but not earning his paycheck.
    • Suli gets a pass mark.
    • I don't know why Frank Molo was re-signed.
    • Lomax had a good year but might be best suited transitioning to the forwards at Parra.
    • Not Flanno's fault the backline was just so slow. He inherited it.
    • RFM had a good game early on but didn't fire a shot since.
    • Kyle Flanagan as above.
    • Blake Lawrie is a solid toiler but with the Couchmans coming in and ready to play a lot of minutes, do a lot of work, we need more than an honest toiler.

  • Head office: 7/10. Moving on the right direction.
  • Flanno: 7/10. Overacheived and moving in the right direction.
  • Team: 6/10. I was on board with them getting the spoon in the pre-season.
  • Lower grades, NSW Cup and Flegg: 4/10 Missed the finals.
  • Juniors: 9/10. Future looking good.
  • jodragon40 jodragon40. 3/10. More consistent. Moving in the right direction.

3 out of 10, bit harsh considering I selected us to run 12th and we ran 11th, said we just didn't have the engine room to get us consistently over the advantage line and we didn't. Stated 3 yrs ago no semi finals football until 2025 and it would appear that may be the case. That Lawrie wouldn't be our run on prop after round 10, and he isn't. Surely worth a pass mark?

My rating is my rating.

  • Head office: 8/10. Finances are strong, moving on the old boys, spending more on juniors.
  • Flanno: 7/10. The last 3 weeks were disappointing but given the roster he inherited, he did a good job.
  • Team: 5/10. A few of the usual suspects, JDB and Su'A were good but other than that.......
  • Lower grades, NSW Cup and Flegg: 3/10 Missed the finals.
  • Juniors: 10/10. Talking about U19s? They thrashed the opposition in the GF. What more could you ask for?
  • jodragon40 jodragon40. 5/10. Nether here or there. Friendlier this year but that's relative.

Dragons players in the top 100 highest paid:

  • Ben Hunt (Hasn't earned his paycheck)
  • Luciano Leilua (Considering how much money he is on, has somehow escaped criticism)
  • Zac Lomax (I guess reasonable but not going to be missed that much)
  • Jack de Belin (reasonable)
  • Jaydn Su'A (reasonable)
  • Jack Bird (Dramatically overpaid)
  • Francis Molo (Dramatically overpaid and 100% on Flanno)

  • Head office: 8/10.
  • Flanno: 6/10.
  • Team: 5/10.
  • Lower grades, NSW Cup and Flegg: 3/10 NSW Cup was 5 out of 10 but Jersey Flegg, 1 out of 10. Jersey Flegg should've done much better with the talent it had.
  • Juniors: 10/10.
  • jodragon40 jodragon40. 8/10. As far as I've seen, hardly given anyone a baking. Used to happen daily.o_O
5 out of 10 is pass. 6 out of 10 means good.

Frank Molo might be dropped next year.

An old saying comes to mind with my beloved Dragons who have on face value been stuck in the old boys club, accepted mediocrity and carrying deadwood for far far too long.

"If you want to change the culture, you will have to start by changing the organisation."

It now appears that by removing personnel from the organisation we are moving in the right direction.

We have the right head coach, our culture and discipline are changing for the better. 2025 is an exciting prospect for our club to play semi finals football again after a 7 yr hiatus

I'm rating them based on performance alone. Not considering how much they are being paid.

  • Alec Tu’itavake 5/10 I thought he went ok in the one or two games I think he payed.
  • Ben Hunt 6/10 Some good games, some bad games.
  • Ben Murdoch-Masila 5/10 Not much impact but didn't do much wrong.
  • Blake Lawrie 4/10 Gone downhill quickly.
  • Francis Molo 5/10 A bit of aggression but needs to be able to maintain it for 20% longer.
  • Hame Sele 5/10 Good leg speed but hardly dominated in any games.
  • Jack de Belin 9/10 What can I say? Runs lot of metres, makes lots of effective tackles, passes, offloads and does it for a long time.
  • Jack Bird 4/10 Team was better with Feagai in the centres.
  • Jacob Liddle 7/10 Pretty good year all in all.
  • Jaydn Su’A 8/10 Second best this year.
  • Jesse Marschke 6/10 Hardly embarrassed himself.
  • Kyle Flanagan 4/10 Tries his guts out but he either catches and passes immediately or runs, never looking like passing. Not sure he can pass while running. Gets targeted in defence. Puts his body on the line but he is too small. At best he does legs tackles allowing for quick play the balls. I'm sorry for all those who don't like this but I think it's a fact.
  • Mathew Feagai 4/10 Was much better this year but had a few bad games toward the end of the season.
  • Max Feagai 4/10 Same as his brother.
  • Mikaele Ravalawa 4/10 Might have made a much better forward than winger.
  • Moses Suli 7/10 Pretty good year.
  • Raymond Faitala-Mariner 4/10 Had a couple of good games. Unfortunately more bad games.
  • Ryan Couchman 6/10 Should've played more games.
  • Savelio Tamale 5/10 Should've gotten a chance earlier in the year.
  • Sione Finau 6/10 Had one game, played really well, not seen in first grade again.
  • Tom Eisenhuth 5/10 Had a few bad games but was mostly reliable.
  • Toby Couchman 7/10 Should've been in the 17 from round 1.
  • Tyrell Sloan 5/10 Not much improvement.
  • Viliami Fifita 4/10 Lazy!
  • Zac Lomax 8/10 Went off the boil after Origin.
  • Christian Tuipulotu 7/10 Needs to transition to a prop. After Frank Molo and Fifita, he'd be the 3rd biggest in the squad.
  • Luciano Leilua 6/10 Didn't let us down but didn't play really well either.
  • Lyhkan King-Togia 6/10 Gotta be the starting 5/8 from round 1 next year.

Was wondering if you guys can see a tag notification as I left several of you one yesterday inviting you onto the cricket thread for the off season if interested. And anyone else too are welcome.
I saw. Is there any cricket on now? I think it won't start for about another month.

Never truer words were uttered.

There is one aspect not mentioned and one that grates me to distraction, coaches playing favorites, Flanagan has copied Griffin in this and needs to dump it going forward.
