Exactly as I said mate. Guess many of the current generation are out of touch with our golden years You guys there is a thread here on that very subject if you wanna familiarise yourselves with our world record era.

Would love to know the story with Phoenix Johns. Has all the physical tools to be elite. For him to not be named in junior reps is quite strange unless he’s got an injury

Edit - Just found out that even though he’s named in the squads. He’s gonna miss the junior reps season

You mean, "not named"? We use to get all these questions answered by Mug Fan.

Rokko Walker:

The Dragons have just signed New Zealand rugby sensation Rokko Walker.

The Dragons have just signed New Zealand rugby sensation Rokko Walker.
Club: Dragons. Matts Cup.

Position: Five-eighth / Fullback

School: Cranbrook School Bellevue Hill

Skills: Speed, Step / Footwork, Running Game, Vision

A huge off-season buy which stirred up plenty of feather in rugby union circles, it’s a big change for the youngster who has made the move from New Zealand, but has the skillset to come good.

Formerly a first XV five-eighth, the 188cm teen is an avid runner in the same position for league, with the pace to match.

A four-year deal at the Saints has them sure they are in safe hands.

Asher Chapman:

Club: Illawarra Steelers Matts Cup.

Position: Hooker

School: N/A

Skills: Speed | Running game | Step/footwork | Passing

Chapman’s biggest asset is his pace, which he uses to great effect out of dummy half either servicing front rowers or breaking the line himself.

With wheels to burn and good footwork, the under-16s City rep is just as prolific in union, but is contracted to the Dragons for another two years.

I am hoping he can become a "marquee" standard and our long term 5/8. The reports on him are very positive. He is the kind of young players we should be signing. There was a lot of competition for his signature and we won the race it for it. Maybe a Reed Walker halves combination is our long term future?

Sounds good. I like you posting these reports of our up and coming youngsters. It is very positive. Keep us all updated on our good youngsters.

No Ah Kee and Phoenix lost before a ball was kicked off.. really gutted my excitement for the junior season... its still a decent squad, but imagine those 2 into the mix.. Ah Kee mostly tbf, given he was going to be the conductor.

Hopefully the penrith twins and a few others will help carry Dragons SG though, rly didnt enjoy watching them play in 2025, as all the young guns were in the steelers squad.. this year I think its a bit of a reset as a fan, I know I'm going to have to learn a lot of new names/faces and see who we should be excited about...

The exception is the Steelers HM team which is pretty stacked.. any team with Ollie in it im all in lol.. and some of the Steelers SG Pack I am hopeful atleast 1 will take a big step up into higher grades.... Weatherall, C.Meafou, M.Andrews & Phillips.

They look good players and depending on new half Lachlan Gardiners ability they may well be future stars. Saints junior Ryder-Kingi could be his partner. The trial replays I have seen dont give us a clue to the players identity. Pure guesswork. All will be revealed tomorrow in Round 1.

Was thinking the same. I am very familiar with Reeds game management skills and vision, but Walker being a yawnion 5/8 will have some play making skill too. Combined this with his kicking and running game and we may have a special future halves combo.
It's early but Ah Kee has to be in the team if he signs long-term. Sounds like Walker can play anywhere in the backline and Burton anywhere from 1-5.

Burton and Ah Kee are the 2 guys in pathways I can confidently say are the best players in their position in their age group.

When your lucky enough to have players like that you HAVE to lock them down.

We’ve got that done with Ollie Burton, if we can get that done with Ah Kee that’s outstanding business

Api Amone and Asher Chapman are top 5 in their positions for their age group but they don’t impact the game as tangibly as the 2 guys I mentioned which is fine. Their still excellent players

Named in the summer squad but not final squad.
The squad had a number of injuries pre season Ah Kee shoulder Johns foot both I posted about months ago
Also Ethan Gregory and a few others.

The training schedule and drills will be looked into.

Those are 2 guys im really keen to see tomorrow as I dont have a good grasp of their ability:
  • Chapman played HM all last year but ill be honest I wasn't that closely, but his 2nd year it should really show up his skills..
  • I thought I had seen Api, but I was thinking of Halaapiapi, Api is actually a younger brother and new to the grade correct?

When are nswrl gonna extend the number of jr rep games.15 is a good round figure.

You ask this question every year and every year you ignore my response.

It's a rep comp not a season.
How would you like it extended

It goes for 13 weeks from Feb to May timed to finish nefore start of local comps.
You want to extend by 6 weeks and what...

Start in January
Or finish in mid June delaying the liocal comps and making it shorter than reps

Or having them running at the same time denying local teams their best players..
