The issues with a large generation of unproven talent like we see now is the realisation that on the balance of things they can not all make it ... i mean they might but balance of probability is they wont all get there.

If that is the case then how do discussions like Barnett vs Loko fit into things or Toby vs Ryan or Egan vs Jake vs Sua

it is a puzzle

And of course Dylan, I think he will be great for us going forward, he returns in May.

I am the outlier re Dylan. I see him at best on the bench. Luch, Jaydn, Jake, Ryan are in my view ahead of him for an edge spot. I have Jake transitioning to the middle eventually. Dylan will be battling Nick T as well. They cant all play Firsts.

As much as we value the lower grades, I'm not sure it would provide good value for money to take all 3 grades there for 2 weeks.

Something about Dylan. Same as the Couchmans when they first came into the NRL team. By the looks of them at that time (they've packed on the muscle since then), they should've been handled quite easily by the opposing pack but consistently weren't. Luch and Josh Kerr are the opposite. By the looks of them, they should menace opposing teams but don't. Hopefully they will this year. The way I see it anyway.

When the coach values slow skill-less power over fast/classy then you know you are onto something bad ….

Just have a funny inkling we will ‘swap’ Loko for Barnett, and I’m ok with that. Couchmans, Stewart and KK are more than enough to lead a successful forward pack for the next 5-10 years, with Barnett coming in to give us a little bump for 2 or 3 years

Just looked back a few weeks in this thread and it was a great read

We need to have higher standards for our club as fans, we’ve started to accept mediocrity and the club has for a long time

The fact players are walking and want to leave the club speaks volumes about the coach and how he can’t endear himself to players

I love Willie Talau and think he’d be an interesting and very left field shout for head coach but can’t see it happening

Alls I’ll say is if Flanno does get the sack this year, we’ll see how far we’ve come as a club based on who we appoint to replace him

The dumpster fire clubs hire an undeserving/uninspired head coach who also happens to be an old boy with mates in high places (Dean Young)

The middle of the road hire is Brad Arthur (who’s players love him btw, and I think he’s underrated)

The Progressive hire is Peter Wallace (Highly rated)

The dream hire is Willie Peters (Knocked back Newcastle 4 months ago)

The dark horse hire is Ben Hornby who’s done some good things at Souths but the fact he’s an old boy puts me off him

tbf I dont think Peters knocked back Newcastle.. I think he was making the point that hes not going to come and 'interview'.. if an NRL club wants him, come make an offer.

And im also trying to be optimistic that Watsford wouldnt just hand the reigns to Young (other then temporarily).. that he will do the due diligence, even though he might really have his work cut out for him getting it past the board.

But were not quite there yet.. lets see if Flanno can get some wins.

Its not Watsford who makes the decision, its the board members. Wastford reccomends coaches to the board. It will be good to see how far the board have come, not the CEO & football department.

True ultimately the board can enforce their will.. but I have far more confidence that Watsford will put a pretty compelling case together for some other options.. something quite different to what Webb would have done as more of a pencil pushing kind of a CEO.

But ultimately Craig Youngs mates are on the board.. will be quite a sell to get them off his son..

Someone like Peters though as I mentioned elsewhere.. he would need to be offered not interviewed.. im not even saying he is the man mind you, I dont know f*** all about him bar his record overseas.. I dont rly see a lot of other options though, feel like they all got swallowed up in the last 12 or so months.
