I don’t like seeing anyone lose their livelihood but NRL is big business. I was willing to give Flanno leeway for 2024 and 2025 with the expectation that we were heading in the right direction for 2026.
Now for 2026 this is his team, this bullshit with the roster etc. Flanno signed Gutho, Cook, Val, Atkinson, re signed Kyle, brought in CT and re signed him. The list goes on and on. Fale, Tu, Guler and many more i can’t be bothered to list.
This is his roster and has his fingerprints all over it. Shane refuses to evolve with the game, the 6 agains, the fatigue etc. His bash and barge style probably stopped working in the early 2020’s.
Our backline has zero speed bar Holmes and even he has slowed up quite a bit. Gutho tonight couldn’t even catch up to Leilua when he made a bust. Probably every other teams fb gets there and takes the inside pass from Luc and scores under the posts.
It’s over Shane, it isn’t 2016, stop kidding yourself. Your continual buying of the wrong players, selecting the wrong players, the refusal to adapt has brought our club to its knees and you are the leader. So you cop the bullet, that’s how it works in the real world unfortunately.
Don’t like it, then don’t sign up for it. In my job there’s plenty of things that I don’t like but I signed up for it and I deal with it every single day regardless.

No, Mark Gasnier is no longer with Fox Sports. The Dragons legend officially left the broadcaster's NRL team in January 2020 to take up a full-time administrative role with Oztag Australia, joining former referee Bill Harrigan.
If I was Mark Gasnier, I wouldn't take the job of coaching us.
Next issue on the production line is Deano taking over as interim from Shano. Good grief. At least Deano may be a little more receptive to playing the younger talent like Jacob, Loko, Nick etc. Well I hope he does

You should take the job and after 2 years and no decent players wanting to sign to play for your club and your highest paid players wanting out, then after you get the only players you can get, who are released by their current clubs with a year to go on their contracts, it would then be your team. And then who ever takes over after that and the same thing happens, after 2 years it would be their team.
Drop the St George Illawarra Dragons name. Instead of the Illawarra Cutters. We should be called the Illawarra Off Cuts. That is basically what we have been the last 14 years and counting.

Pretty sure Gasnier isnt involved in OzTag, he was involved in a Rugby Union version..
I wouldnt offer the job to Mark Gasnier, what the fark has he done coaching wise..
You answered it with your first paragraph. He is the reason why we can’t sign any decent players unless the offer is too good $$$ wise.
We hit the jackpot with KK and I’m sure the $$$ for 5 years and being tight with Su’a probably got it over the line. Guarantee Shane dribbling shit to him wasn’t the reason he signed.
Player managers don’t want to deal with him, he low balls most potential signings. He pisses of young talent coming through and continues to block their pathway to first grade by selecting players that he openly told were unwanted and free to leave. His past issues have spooked plenty as well.

Flanno is almost retirement age. Financially speaking, he'll be just fine.

We don't have any say in who is our next coach. It doesn't go to a vote to the fans. It will be decided by Watsford and the board. The real question is, who that they/we want would even take the job and that has been the case since Price was coach. We have had Bellamy, Bennett, Fitzgibbon, Slater, Ciraldo and Ryles all knock and maybe others that I am not aware of.

As I have said before, I supported Flanno, I wanted him to succeed, why would I want anything else. Time has gone on and the game has changed, IMO he hasn;t been able to move with it or at least recognize a way ahead. Instead we have gone backwards year after year. I understand the injuries excuse last year but this year it is more than obvious he is way out of touch and his constant selection of KF has brought numerous pressure onto himself and KF. I dont dislike Flanno but he now needs to move on, no hard feelings and lets do something else. If it needs to be DY then so be it for the rest of the year, the season is gone anyway.
At least we will get a snapshot of what he can or cant do, and gives us enough time to prepare to have someone in place by this off season.
I dont know what the club will do, its at a point now of who cares really, it was their own doing by extending him when they did without any real justification, now we wear the consequences. For me I would like Arthur.

I have a theory Flanno wants to get sacked. He's had enough. He is a grandfather after all and after his son has been told to fly to the moon and stuff like that, Flanno's heart isn't in it anymore. But if he quits rather than gets sacked, he won't get or will get a significantly smaller payout.

2021 - Cowboys - Defense at Cows - went from 520 to 26 a game to 31 conceded per game - comps worse defence
2022 - Cowboys - Defence at Cows went from 31 a game to 15 - great result - comps 3rd best defence - a very good result
2023 - Cowboys - Defence at Cows back to 22 a game, 10th best
2024 - Dragons under Flano - went from 673 to 634 - 13th best
2025 - Dragons under Flano - went from 634 to 628 - 14th best (26 per game)

Young has had one decent season as defensive coach at the cowboys ... apart from that his teams are bottom of the pile in terms of points conceded - no real demonstrated aptitude to coach a top quality defensive unit over seasons.
There is nothing in his CV to suggest that there is a quality/capable head coach at all ...
