We did piggy back the baby Bunnies across the line by handing them 12 on a platter, due to two poor passes, one by Atkinson the other Tu. We cant afford to do this in the season proper.
Sorry to say this new halves combo did not fill me with confidence heading into another season. Still no structured attack and why didn't they take on the line or use the chip kick anything to disrupt their defense. Gutho was our best spine by a country mile, busy as a beaver and is faster with...
Jd I did manage to watch all of it. We had our moments. I'd not call the display diobolical but more mediocre. This is a trial so the guys that did not stand up against weaker opposition simply dont start the season.
First thing I noted was how much fitter we looked so Dan Lawson is now doing...
He was given some pretty good cattle in Gutho, Val, Cook to add to JDB and some promising forwards. Had the chance to nail some elites but did not have the pulling power. His biggest faux pas was hanging onto the nameless one too long and then favoring him and his son to steer the ship.
Ditto DD. Some of the best finishing by a winger for a long time for mine. But that rosy picture turned to a muddy one as we lost that potentially finals bound Val/Sione partnership due to our hard to fathom coach.
Who is to say Deano hasn't grown as a potential coach since his last interim spell with us. Not making any judgement until I see his results. I believe he'd still bleed for the RedV, like his old man.
Did Ashton Ward then go into #7 as he has plenty of experience there. I really rated him when he controlled our Flegg side with Nick Quinn as the pivot. Size was his only deterrent to reaching the top level for mine. From the replay seems he has added some flesh and muscle since he was with us.
Gutho one line break and no line break assists or try assists. Atkinson one line break, one try assist. Flanagan zilch. Think I'll stick with Atkinson for a while George.
