Somehow I don't think that Flanno and Finau get on just like Sloan who Flanno ignores now. Finau scored those great 4 tries in this years Charity Shield game and then after staying on for a bit, after being walloped in the head by Lewis Dodd went off with what appeared to be a combination of delayed concussion as well as heat stroke. He has only played 2 games in firsts in the comp proper but for some reason has not maintained a regular spot. I think he has been injured as well.
I thought that we would have two fast wingers playing in firsts in Sloan and Finau most games but now neither appear wanted and we have Lawson, Allan and Tui and Matt Feagai basically left without including the young ones coming through.
Slow backline with Holmes possibly the fastest for the Eels game. Such a pity. Bring back Brett Morris hahaha!

We simply cannot go back to those days of jobs for the boys. That's part of what got us into this mess. A big no from me to D Young being a head coach

You are all kidding yourselves if you don't believe that Deano is next in line if/when Flanno falls. Why else would he have come back after being passed over for the top job.

When you are kidding you usually laugh there is nothing to laugh about D Young being our next head coach.
In my view some major factors in our decline since 2010 can be put down to:
Poor Club/ Team culture
Poor Club/ Team discipline
Poor choice of head coach using previous players
Lack of relationship between the club management and player managers
Poor retention and recruitment
Our inability to provide a genuine opportunity to those players seeking to play semi-final/ grand final football

Viliame going before June 30 though I cant see what it does for us (off contract end of year anyway), we already have 3 free spots, 4 if Sloan goes and we cant seem to land anyone...
There is 100% an element of actually earning the bench spot from Viliame, his selection is not for giggles.. this is a must win game for Flanno... if Viliame plays like last week, and he comes on in a period where we actually have the ball... he will turn heads.

He has a poor motor Rev and gets gassed easily. He played 36 mins last week in cup. How would he possibly put in a good stint in 1st’s?? Just makes zero sense carrying him on the bench for a vanilla 15 min stint.
Nick T onto the bench is totally different. Give him 20 odd mins, make plenty of tackles, play back row and heaven forbid, cover for the 2 wingers that are both back from hamstring injuries. I just don’t get it. If I’m wrong please say so and point it out

Sounds like you have some knowledge of the situation. Is it a Saints vs Steelers thing, one side not pulling its weight or a general incompetence and indifference?

That is true but we also need some experience with the kids coming through. Surely that was Jack’s job to do for 2026

I would say that he has done that already and I would say that he was looking at a permanent bench spot next season and like most negotiations it would appear he was after 2 more seasons on good coin so I wish him well especially after what he has gone through personally.
