Round 17 vs Eels

I am happy that the club extended LKT and I think he will continue to improve and could be our long term 5/8.IMO he got the better of Dylan Brown tonight. Whilst young Flanno has copped plenty of criticism (justified), he doesn't hide in defence and has a reasonable passing game. Having said that, he would make a good 14.
After watching the ressies today there isn't anyone else that can play 7 in 1sts

Agree. People banging on about the run of wins in reserves and how the halves need to change. Illias does some dumb shit and the fact that the team is well drilled makes up for it. Kyle was decent tonight and LKT ran more and looked good. Decent effort from both the 6 and 7 tonight

In today's fast paced game with all those injuries and disruption not many teams in this competition would have walked away with a win. I thought against all odds in the 2nd half were showed true determination and courage to hang in there and take the win. As you know when a team is chasing the scoreboard mistakes happen and that mistake was made by their best player Lomax and we were good enough to take advantage of that mistake. In that movement there were 2 try scoring tackles made the first by Holmes the 2nd by Liddle. They never gave up chasing back in the end it was Holmes picking himself up off the ground that scooped up the ball and won the game. I'm a proud Dragons supporter tonight.
Spot on Jo
I thought Lyhkan and Kyle had their best 40 min of football.
There is a lesson in the 2 games today on how much influence forwards, possession and field position have on how well halves play.
Absolutely spot on, with everything going against it we scrapped the win and it was bloody well deserved. Giving the crowd a heart attack near the end there but hearing the roar with the standing ovation when Val picked it up for the run away try was an outstanding way to finish it off.

Big question is how do we look next week with all the injuries, Vili was also struggling on the sideline for a while with an anklasamongst all the others, hopefully just a sprain cause he held his own tonight. Congrats lads, made the trip worth while.

Proud of the boys and gutsed it out, I must admit I had that feeling of , here we go again. Cant complain about the halves tonight, I just want to see them get the team to wrestle possession back when we are under the pump. We looked great in the 1st half and then got split up the middle in the second, I suppose all the injuries in this one counted for that. Anyway next week would be sensational if we got up but lets see how team Tuesday looks. It was a win and I'm happy.

3 and 2 points has to be Cook and Holmes. Who gets 1 point? I really have no idea but Su'A who was playing well and then didn't let anyone down when he was moved to centre.
  1. Su'A
  2. Cook
  3. Holmes

There are always unsung heroes overlooked by most of us . Those who just did the best they could without fuss.

Now I will admit I am a defensively minded old coach and some may ridicule me for what I am about to say but defensively last night especially in the 2nd half when the Eels were coming to get us my unsung heroes in that category were our bookends, Emre Guler and Dave Klemmer.

Can anyone on this forum remember when a bookend made 50 tackles in a game? Guler did, and yes he missed 6 but the Eels pack ran at him all night and let me not forget his partner in crime Klemmer just as good 42 tackles only 1 missed, so between them 92 tackles. Klemmer was more effective in attack, 12 runs, 117m. Both celebrating milestone games both did themselves proud.

Neither will get MVP points from most pundits but without their efforts last night we lose that game.

As a result of the bookends laying the platform every back ran for 100m plus with the MOM, Holmes topping that count with 18 runs for 221m.

Special honourable mentions also go to the midget in the middle of the bookends, Cookie, 10 runs for 110m and LKT, 9 runs 94m, he is growing in confidence and finally starting to take on the line.

Lastly after all the pressure that has been piled onto KF, I was happy to see him cross for his try.

Fifita was good, wasn't he? Carried the ball strongly and defended well.
Yup, said to the missus the first carry will show his intent and then they kicked to his side on the kick off, had a packed hill screaming for him and poked his nose straight through the line and wouldve carried them 5m. Think it gave him all the confidence he needed cause he ran just as hard on every carry, was great to see.

Couldn't agree more Jo, think the last time I saw 50 was liddle playing 80? Unsure if we've had one this year, maybe Toby one game? Couple that would've been close. Guler and Klem worked their arses off and had to do big minutes under constant pressure in that second half, they both earned their milestone game wins which was awesome doing it together like that.

Val absolutely MVP he was busting his arse, I didn't see what Lawson did to himself, and hope it isn't to serious, but Val was taking just about every carry for him in the last 20ish and even with a busted arm Lawson was still contesting every ball against Lomax.

I'll probably cop heat but it was a feel good moment seeing Flanno score and getting a big celebration after all the media crap. Also after watching the presser really enjoyed Cookie jumping in on the question to Flanno about Kyle and what hes been dealing with. Spelled it out nicely, backed his half and clarified the issues they've been working on. Speaks to the culture building there, definitely wouldn't have seen Hunt doing that.

Do we know what is happening with this guy, with the injuries we have we are sure going to need him now.
I think he suffered an injury during yesterdays game justa. Not sure what is his problem or how bad it is and if he can play next week or not.

This is what I have found on Zero Tackle what his problem was yesterday -
"Prop Viliami Fifita played through a knee complaint as the squad was reduced to one fit interchange player."

Thanks Dave, I also want to know what is happening with him at the club, there were rumors that we are letting him go.
