Round 5 v Cowboys

Isn't Fale a specialist left winger?

He'll do anything but drop Tuipulotu.
He was right ctr when he first arrived.. but been left ctr lately in cup.. I thought he might have been picked last week.. find it a bit weird hes being recalled this week.. but good to see how he goes.. honestly hoping he makes it as a first grader, cause not all that confident about Tu, and Buchanan is still TBD (granted he is young), but its a lot of outside back spots being chewed up if these guys arent up for it.

I do understand the pros to CT's selections, but he is basically Flannos 2nd son.. he has stopped us recruiting actual athletic wingers.. just as Kyle as prevented us signing an actual 7.

Flanno’s lost the plot mate. Not the first time a winger has been sacrificed come team list Tuesday. Has form for this kind of rubbish. He’s cooked mate

But Sloane might still play. He was a dummy away (Holmes) from scoring two…

I wonder how many weeks Kyle will be out ?

And as the shit seems to have hit the fan, whether he will be rushed back into the team—by a coach who is flatlining on life support…

Flanno gameplan is not built for current rules. Adlib play and mobility in a side is rewarded now. For mine, it doesn't matter if we win the next 2 games because there's enough evidence now that he can't coach effectively in today's game.
Agree Dave, I remember 2 distinct moments of our last game. One was the look on Atkinson’s face when the Titans scored the winning try, he looked jaded and broken. The other was watching CT turn round to give chase , it went for about 4-5 meters and he gave up. We don’t have the players that suit the game and we certainly don’t have a coach that wants to adapt.

The odds are against us winning to the Cows this Saturday. They have beaten us in the last 6 games we have played them. They are more mobile, speedier, stronger and are buoyed after their win against the Storm last week.

Flanno doesn't have the cattle to win and has no idea how to get our guys to compete.

There are a lot of disheartened fans atm but being the loyal supporter group they will turn up. I can tell you I’m sick of the ads making the Dragons look like world beaters. Anyway I used to be loyal to WIN in the Gong but got sick of watching them get flogged every time I went there. Be interesting to see the crowd this early in the season is.

I’m thinking between 8000 and 9000. Sad.

It's not only a question of winning or losing, it's the kind of play Flanno seems to think is good.

I think if the team had youth and speed across the park, like Cowboys, fans could handle them losing.
100%. For example, if Flanno started playing Halangahu, LPT, Tsougranis, Buchanan etc instead of the same flops week in week out (some of whom will be let go at the end of the season) then at least we’ll be able to see that the kids are getting a go.

Finau. Never given a chance. Talk of LPT wanting out (not sure how true that is), Jacob’s old man blowing up on social media, clearly doesn’t rate Tsougranis ( sat on the bench and was unused for charity shield FFS and didn’t get a look in the match day squads prior to his injury in round 3), LKT was a forced in this week and was basically out the door to Newwy before he back flipped, hasn’t even been a thought process for Flanno.

Sloan out, back in for 1 game, looking like back out. Reed, whilst I understand, but carved up last week and if he continues this trajectory then what happens by say mid season?? Like seriously wtf is going on here.

This is all a massive conundrum as far as I am concerned. Optimism has disappeared from most of us and everything is becoming more disheartening for the fans. I really was hoping that our 2026 season would be one filled with glory and enterprise but what a nosedive since late last year. In my honest opinion we just don't have the players to win games and by winning I mean by at least 20+ points in many games and for quite a while now our attack has been very mediocre to poor.

I feel that Clint G and Holmes have gone past their use by dates and Cook not as quick and devious. We know how the older forwards have been travelling - not bloody good - and the young ones are trying their utmost best but not really classy enough still. Would another coach do any better with the cattle we have? I think they too would find it hard to get the runs on the board and this is not cricket. Great cattle will help any coach and this is our problem that we have not been able to get for years.

What did Jacob's dad say?

But according to veteran News Corp journalist Andrew Webster, discussions about Flanagan's place as coach will start if the Dragons don't return to winning ways.

"They have extended him out to bring stability, particularly around recruitment - but that's only gonna go so far if you're not winning games," Webster said on the Offload podcast.

"If they're not going well by Anzac Day and they don't perform in that match, that's always a drama at the club. If they don't get at least one win out of those three matches heading into the Roosters match, then Dragons management are gonna have to have some pretty tough conversations with Shane Flanagan.

"Having spoken to people at the club - that's definitely at play."
I'll be at the game Anzac Day. I hope this game isn't over at oranges like last year
