Every team trains well Deano Young. It is what all coaches seem to say. It is what happens on the field on game day that matters. Even I would be training the house down if I was 22 which I wish I was now - bejeesus. But the thing is it is the attitude and discipline that are in need of improving which Young and the assistant coaches should be instilling into the players. Young might be a bit on the easy side so that he gets on with the players.

I remember being promoted to a higher position at my work when I was quite young and I had several staff under me. My boss called me in the office one day and he said to me - "Whatever you do outside of work with those guys is up to you but when you are in charge of them here, you never should treat them like buddies. They will walk all over you and bludge". Lesson learnt because of those wise words.

So, Deano needs to toughen up and give those players not doing the right thing - like bloody Holmes - a big blast at training , on game day, at half time, after the game and get them to focus and play for each other. Our mistakes with handling the ball and then terrible lapses in defence are our killers.

As I said earlier I am concerned with what the team will be like next year even with the "better" players coming. Deano could end up on the scrap heap sooner rather than later.

That looms as our big problem now that Deano has the job. I don't want to say it, but I will. I really think that we will have unwanted problems next year - good results will be fewer than us fans want.

Holmes has definitely reached the best before/use by date stage of his footy life. He just seems to struggle with focussing. HIs handling is poor, he has dropped in speed and strength (he isn't a big guy and not tough enough for me now). His goal kicking isn't great. Time to dispense with him DA and others.

not the last two weeks .. Jake noticeably less effective ... less metres, slower on the play the ball .. Just noticeable the shorter/younger kid vs bigger/older/experience.

Jake is going to make it, just that transition is a tough ask for a kid .. not down on him in any way shape form ..
He has been getting some reasonable experience which will set us up well next season ...

in a shitty season Jake and the kids the highlights, he just isnt there yet and good off season and a weights program designed for his work in the middle and look out next year.
