SGI NSW Cup
Good to end the season on a positive.
It was his best game but he's clearly not a fullback. Not even high balls but normal kicks trouble him. Plus he's too slow to be a good fullback. Plus Gutho will be the backup fullback next year. LKT is clearly a better 5/8.I have been giving it to Atkinson for a few games now, whilst he made some mistakes yesterday he had a much improved game. I'd like to see him have a good game against teams that can expose a FB because Parra really didn't. He has the whole off season now to work on his game, we will need a back up for Drinkwater as I think Gutho just cant play FB anymore. Anyway well done and onward to what 2027 will present for us. As has happened over the last 8 years I've now lost interest in the footy, we do have a glimmer with JF, so that maybe something. I guess I'm just tired of all the excuses and issues that have befallen this club and having to sit there and watch other teams play finals again. Its been a long season for all of us because we have known it was over very early and the Anzac day game just confirmed what we had become.
We have hope now and we have a purpose of never wanting to be favorites for the spoon in April, we have a young breed plus some new blood that will reinvigorate us and ensure we show our true worth. We have a new but known coach that I will back like I have done with all our coaches until its impossible to do so, so I wish him the best, there is still a mountain of work to do, but he needs a chance. He will be under pressure from RD 1 next year, there will be some huge expectations from the Dragons fanbase with no excuses to be tolerated, my personal theory is if we dont make finals next year it will be a major failure, and standby for the bloodletting to begin.
Anyway fellow forum members, enjoy your time away from the footy, keep an eye out for our JF squad and I wish them the best. Be prepared to put in next year as I think it's going to be one hell of a ride.
A very good synopsis Justa. As tragics, I am sure that we will continue to stick by our Mighty Dragons. We will have the team next year that should win us many games - I am praying that our first grade team can endure the season with not too many serious injuries - which can affect us, however, I am sure that our young ones will be used more to enable us to keep afloat. Deano has still plenty to learn and his job won't be easy just like it hasn't been for most head coaches.I have been giving it to Atkinson for a few games now, whilst he made some mistakes yesterday he had a much improved game.
