The Kerr and' possibly' Sloan one seems the most likely.. Suli the 2nd one.. crap ok yeah Fale also.. dont think Gutho/Atko r likely..
If Dan Anderson even wants to move on Atkinson, I thought he is one another club like Perth might be interested in. Suli should have a few clubs interested as well. Kerr will have to go to the ESL. I guess Gutho and Kyle will retire or see out their contracts. No idea about Fale really. He might get an offer from the ESL.

We have made it super clear we want Jack to come home.. and I saw a little optimism today in Jacks wording that he 'was not too sure' he was staying in Brisbane.. but as Rufus mentioned thats also the sort of thing you say when you are trying to leverage some more money out of your current club negotiation (esp if u really want to stay).

At the very least though our interest will force the money up and perhaps Jack has a decision to make... then again there are likely other parties monitoring the situation.. and there is a bit of a musical chairs thing probably going to happen.. i.e. anyone who leaves their club crates a vacancy also.

In a perfect world we need to off load a few non starters like thinking at least 4 would be great

It’s a top 30+6 so in any given round there will be 17 players not picked … you just need to ensure that in those 17 you have promising developing talent plus first grade capable depth for cover

It is so right to look at out 36 and chat about the ness that we are still trying to correct

Weatherall/Oneill don’t seem to be that promising developing junior type when compared with Hutchinson/reed …

Problem with that is given new teams first grade capable can get a gig playing 1sts not walllwing in cup … so unless you are the roosters you are carrying the likes of a Kerr/Sele and you hope that when the get tge call up they contribute

22 teams will make that worse as well

So I agree that in the 36 we have a bunch who are not giving great value and I hope that a better environment to work/play plus better recruitment/retention decisions will get a better squad

We have top stop paying big overs on the likes of Holmes/gutherson even Suli ASAP

Sometimes these fringe first grade types like Josh Kerr are a necessary evil unless you are going to throw a bunch of 18 year-olds into the fray which won't work about 9 times out of 10. Though seems with Hutchinson, Webster, Tsogranis Dragons have some pretty good depth in the forwards. Backs are a worry.

I cant see them letting both their centers go !!!

With the kind of money they are throwing around for halfbacks these days, if it's true the Dragons got Metcalf on around 900K a season, it's an absolute steal for the club! Should leave plenty of ammunition for a shot at Jack Bostock or Herbie Farnworth.
Hopefully, for him and us, he stays injury-free. His career to date is 45 games in first grade. $900K isn't a bargain if it translates to $100K per game.

I haven't followed his career until after news he had signed for us. Have his injuries been the same, i.e. Kyle Stanley and his knees or Tom Trojboevic and his hamstrings, or has it been a number of unrelated injuries?
Hi Eric

Metcalf has suffered all of what Kyle Stanley and Tommy T have suffered and more -

Luke Metcalf has suffered several significant injuries during his NRL career with the Cronulla Sharks and New Zealand Warriors:

Major Injuries
  • Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Tear (2025): Suffered a ruptured ACL in his right knee during Round 17 against the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium, requiring a reconstruction and a 9-month recovery period (he also had a prior right knee ACL reconstruction in 2019 before his NRL debut).
  • Leg Fracture / Tibia Fracture (2024): Suffered a lower leg/tibia fracture during Round 4 against the Newcastle Knights in an impact tackle from Tyson Frizell, requiring surgery and a multi-month layoff.

Hamstring and Soft-Tissue Injuries
  • Right Hamstring Injury (August 2026): Suffered a right hamstring strain while attempting a goal conversion in a match against the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium, marking his second hamstring setback of the 2026 season.
  • Left Hamstring Strain (2026): Suffered a strain to his left hamstring earlier in the 2026 season, which sidelined him for several weeks.
  • Hamstring Injuries (2023): Dealt with multiple hamstring issues across both legs during his initial stint with the Warriors in 2023.
  • Quad Injury / Cork (2026): Suffered a quad cork during Round 16 of the 2026 season, which limited his mobility and goal-kicking duties during the match.
Based on the above, we really are taking a massive risk on Metcalf. When fit, he is fantastic but I think that he will definitely come a cropper in the seasons we have signed him for on several occasions.

It's probably the reason why both the Sharks and Warriors let him go without too much of a whimper.

Based on that, the hamstrings are a worry but as for the others, no indication he is prone to such injuries.

Morgs I think DA did mention that there would be no further buys and that we were close to the cap, everything would need to come from internal.
