2025 Round 1 team

Sounds like Rava is no longer on the outer.. its just hard to fathom what has changed in the last 6 weeks.. wing is one of the strongest spots we have.. I mean there are no rep wingers.. but there are a lot of choices. I dont really understand why Sione Finau isnt 1st choice though, have been watching him playing opposite CT, Rava, Mat Feagai for 2yrs, and I feel like he has picked up all the areas he was lacking.. and brings more speed, acceleration and aerial skills compared to the other options.

That said we desperately need centres both for nsw cup and 1st grade injury cover.. a few of these wingers need to be practicing there.

Ah that's why Rava had strapping on his knee in the photos today. Good signs if he was the preferred winger until the injury, I assume it means he had a positive attitude towards pre-season after a poor 2024.

I think you've answered your own question. We don't have centre depth apart from Corey Allan who himself is returning from a big injury. I agree with you re Finau getting a chance at Wing. I guess Flanno has seen something in him at centre or he doesn't like a particular part of his wing play.

Ben Rumble?
Corey Ackers? So he still might be staying?
Dan ............?
Jonah .............?

Ben is training at fullback? I heard somewhere, not sure where, he was training as a centre.

Ben Rumble (FB)
Corey Allan (centre)
Nathan Lawson (Wing/ Rugby convert). Assume he meant Nathan
Jonah Glover (halfback)

Everyone rates Gutho and Cook but if Lawson comes good, he might be the most important off season signing. I know that is a big call but a speedy winger good at other areas of the game! How good would that be!?
Holmes is the biggest signing. If he and Lawson are on the same side of the field. it'll be lightening fast.

Usually spine players are always more vital but because Holmes also kicks goals, they are probably about the same.

Classy comments from Sloan:
“I did re-sign throughout the year, and it was pretty weird at the start,” Sloan told this masthead.

“At the start, I was a bit unsure about it. It’s fight or flight. I was a bit confused about the decision. But when I actually got to meet Gutho and you see the way he goes about his day, how he trains, how he moves, how he works, how he communicates, just all the little things that he does, then I understood why we brought Gutho in.

Surely he won't pick Eisenhuth or RFM ahead of either of the Couchmans.

The team is pretty much set, trials may play a role in a few spots.
Mat at 5 is most likely.
The middles are all there.
14 is in the balance Flanno may go with 4 middles,, he thinks we are weak without Molo.

Tom E and RFM are going to be in but only one of the Couchmans? I wouldn't have either Tom E or RFM in the 17 in front of Egan let alone the Couchmans. Based on what I've seen in the lower grades, I'd have Stewart and LPT in before both of them as well but I understand Flanno won't like to go with so many young players at the same time.

Well he knows better than me. Molo worries me. Especially now the alleged issue is out you can bet your last $ he will be sledged on the park by the opposition. Just my views

Frank Molo? I think Mike Molo might get sledged in NSW Cup and Frank will be playing elsewhere.

What did RFM or Eisenhuth do on the field last season to even slightly justify selection? Or does Flanno just not rate Egan, Couchmans, Stewart, LPT? I know he wont go with all of those young players in round 1 or probably at any stage. As has often been said, when it comes to a tackling machine, Egan is the real deal. Makes a lot of very effective tackles for very few misses.
