Kangaroos latest team news:

Dylan Edwards claimed the No.1 jersey last year off James Tedesco and will be the early favourite to keep his spot. Although Kalyn Ponga looms large in the conversation despite speculation around his commitment to the Aussies.

Xavier Coates and Zac Lomax were impressive on the wings and will be expected to hold down their positions.

Tom Trbojevic will be one of the first names on the teamsheet if he is fit after playing several blinders for his national side last year. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow has started the season slowly and will have to pick up his levels considerably if he wants to fend off Bradman Best.

Latrell Mitchell will also inevitably come into contention in the centres, if he is fit and available come the end of the NRL season.

Tom Dearden and Mitch Moses could be replaced by Cameron Munster and Nathan Cleary in the halves, if the duo avoid injury issues which wiped out their international chances last year.

Payne Haas missed the Pacific Championships but will be back on deck, if he doesn't elect to play for Samoa. It will be the same story for Tino Fa'asuamaleaui, who missed almost the entire year in 2024 after tearing his ACL.

The race for the utility spot on the bench is Matt Burton's to lose, with the likes of Connor Watson and Reece Robson also likely to be vying for the No.14 jersey. Mitch Barnett and Hudson Young could occupy the pine as well ahead of last year's debutant Lindsay Smith, Reuben Cotter and Lindsay Collins.
