Round 8 vs Sydney Roosters

Gular will be available for selection but I agree with a post I saw on another thread. Blake Lawrie is a better option. I presume Sinoe Finau is going to be on one wing with Sloan on the other. If he plays well, it'll be interesting to see what Flanno does with CT who I presume will be back soon. Sloan and Finau on the wings, for whatever shortcomings they may or may not have, will finally, for the first time in a long time, have speed to burn on both wings.

How long has it been? I remember the last time Dragons won a finals game, it was against the Broncos and early on in the game Broncos got off to a fast start. David Fifita made a break from around halfway and ran away from our winger even with the ball in hand.

It's a pretty fast backline with Holmes as well.

Big call for Flanno today. Will he go with RFM for Stewart or hand a debut to LPT or Latu. As Latu hasn't re-signed, I presume it'll be LPT if one of them.

Guler will play in my opinion

I'll be there, flying down on Thursday night, march Friday morning proudly wearing Dads war medals then it's off to the game. I've been to many, the atmosphere is humbling and electric. The big red v will reign supreme. Lest we forget

Yes, it's my fav game of the year. Everyone should experience it once, even neutrals. I hate how the Roosters have completely monetised it, absolute disgrace & it's a shame it hasn't been called out in the media. $100 for the lowest category ticket. Pathetic.

It's disgraceful. Back in the day the Anzac Cup would be flown in by a chopper landing in the middle of the field. The Roosters are just money grabbers and yes the seat prices have risen greatly over the last few years.

Si Finau named at wing & Guler on the bench. Hopefully Guler provides a bit more impact from the bench than he did as a starter.
The Roosters will pepper young Finau with bombs if we allow them field position especially after last week when Saab out jumped him and rightly so. Hopefully we dont give them too many opportunities to bomb from within our 30/40m areas

They got rid of Young on the wing who’s a liability but their middles depth is tested with a few players injured.

Nawaqanitawase is a massive aerial threat too so Finau needs to be switched on

He didn’t prepare for that catch against saab well either, trying to catch a cross field kick from a standing position instead of taking a few steps back to jump into the path of the kick was what he should have done.

I am interested to see them pepper that roosters right edge with Toia/Wong as there has been a few changes in personnel and they’ve been suspect.

Sione Finau’s speed when we create space could be something that we just don’t get from CT or Feagai so I’m hoping he has a blinder

So its Nawa v Finau correct or Tupou v Finau

Dragons team:

  1. Clinton Gutherson
  2. Tyrell Sloan
  3. Moses Suli
  4. Valentine Holmes
  5. Sione Finau
  6. Kyle Flanagan
  7. Lachlan Ilias
  8. Toby Couchman
  9. Damien Cook
  10. David Klemmer
  11. Luciano Leilua
  12. Jaydn Su’A
  13. Jack de Belin
  14. Jacob Liddle
  15. Blake Lawrie
  16. Emre Guler
  17. Dylan Egan

No surprises. Last year in this game they massively targeted Kyle. I suspect it was a bit personal after Flanno called Robinson demanding answers as to why Kyle was dropped.

They may do so again but with another year under his belt he should be ok. They dropped Young which is surprising and they will rely on trying to roll down the middle of the park using Whyte and Leniu. Obviously then utilising Tedesco around the middle to take advantage of a back peddling ruck area.
