Round 17 vs Eels

I hope that with all the news about JDB signing with the Eels and Sloan told he can negotiate with rival clubs and possibly other issues that may be going on at the club, that these issues won't affect the players in this game on Saturday. It might be tougher than what it should be given the circumstances. How does SF get the players to fully focus on the job at hand? Will the players lift? Will JDB play a great game knowing that he will be playing with the club we are facing next year or will he just go through the motions?

I have a strong feeling that Sloan will end up with a good NRL Club as he does have talent but needs a coach who actually knows what Sloan needs to work on. Just by SF putting him back to reserves isn't the way that Sloan should "learn". All of his faults are needed to be remedied, the main one being handling his defence better. The other things like catching high balls etc would only be minor and should be easy to fix but his defence and taking the ball up hard needs to be worked on. Maybe Bennett or Bellamy might be the answer to who he needs to manage/coach him. Super League to me he will fail in so I don't think that going overseas to play is an option for Tyrell. This is just my take.

I hope that we win on Saturday night. Out of the next 4 or more games, this one is the one we have to win and then take one week at a time with the others.

There is a definite problem at the club Dave, with 16 rounds gone we still have no idea on what our best team is, and neither does SF.

Yes, I think you are right justa on both counts. I just hope that the club has given due and proper thought to not giving JDB an extra year at least at the club if they intend to retain Klemmer and Guler instead of him!
Analysis = true

I just can't pick the Dragons to win this game. Even if LKT has a blinder, the outside backs are just so slow. A lot of people have been complaining about this issue for a long time and here is Flanno picking the slowest backline yet.
  • Eels by 8
  • Dragons first try: Couchman
  • Dragons best: Couchman

I can't see us losing this. Yes we have a snails pace backline but any coach worth his salt knows his teams strengths and weaknesses. Therefore you set your individual game plans accordingly. I would suggest with this 17 the game plan will not include trying to run around the Eels but through them in the middle of the park and our edges. Dragons by 8.

As I mentioned in another post it would appear that Couchman and Fifita will be our bookends bench players. Not bad, Stewart will come on for Leilua I'd imagine
