Well, just as I thought, the Tigers have now offered Doueihi two years instead of one - on I think $400K a year, which Fox News says matches the Dragons offer and as he would prefer to be at the Tigers, he might take up the Tigers offer. When an external player is actually signed by the Dragons, I would love them to say that they love to join us. When Doueihi says that his preference is to remain a Tiger its like getting kicked in the balls. We again are being used by another manager like Isaac Moses to get a better deal from the Tigers which is what they have been aiming for in my opinion.
Our only course now is to offer more money and a longer term which maybe not what the Dragons want for future plans but I think Doueihi is worth it.

I think that Doueihi has overcome his cruciate ligament problems now Justa but by saying this he most probably will suffer an acl injury this weekend - heaven forbid though. Tedesco had knee ligament problems when he was very young at the Tigers but he well and truly has overcome them and he hardly gets injured even though he does so much on the field running as you would know. Same as Jack Bird.
So I think that if the Dragons are keen to sign him, they will have to increase the term and pay him more to leave the Tigers. I think he is one player that can improve the dynamics of the Dragons and Flanno can initially use him as the starting half alongside Atkinson next year and if necessary in other positions only if needed. He has a good running game, good defender, tall enough to take high kicks, has a great kicking game and kicks for goals and field goals and has natural football flair and talent. To me he is an all rounder. A player that this club has lacked for yonks.

Chammas reporting we have increased our offer to Adam Doueihi 2 x $500k per year, Tigers giving the 2nd year but at $350k per year.

He played one good game at halfback though I've always thought he was good but more suited to 5/8, centre or fullback than halfback. Though to have him around for 2 years before Reed is ready to take over would be ok.

With the increased salary cap now, I don’t mind it.
$500k for a ball playing lock who’s decent is about right.
Add in that he can play 6 and fill in at centre and that utility value is imperative

Very reasonable price imo.. and agree the whole value of wages is going to be completely changed in a few years also...

I'm surprised more clubs aren't interested at that price. Parramatta for example must have a lot of salary cap space. They have promoted from within to replace Brown which would almost certainly save them a lot of money.

If we don't get him, is it time to ask some serious questions about whether Flanno is on the nose with NRL players in general? If he stays at the Tigers with Benji for 25% less.

You definitely would have to ask GCRV. The Tigers have increased the term of their deal to Doueihi from 1 year to 2 but have kept the money at $350K pa. If Chammas is telling what he has heard is true in that the Dragons have offered the same term but at a much higher pay of $500K pa and Doueihi takes the Tigers offer, some questions will have to be asked on what other players might think of playing under Flanno or of him personally.
I don't like it when it is in the open that we have made a very good offer to a player and it gets turned down. Very bad publicity.

I'm guessing a third party is going to swoop in and get him. 500k seems like a bargain for a player of his quality.

There could be a third party Chris. Being very quiet and cagey. Could it be the Eels, Bunnies or Cowboys? I cannot see the Raiders, Storm, Bulldogs, Roosters, Warriors, Dolphins, Panthers, Broncos, Sharks, Sea Eagles, Knights and Titans going for him. So Us and Tigers for sure going for him. Whittling down those three I mentioned, I don't think Souths will take him back, Cowboys have most positions covered and that leaves the Eels.
We will see if Anderson has got the Midas touch.

If it's Saab he has 4 more years at Manly (end of 2029), its the longest contract ive ever seen on Zero Tackle (every box is ticked).. I have no doubt they would like him gone so they can promote someone like Faulalo (a gun fullback/winger).. but I dont think many clubs would be too keen to pick Saab up for 4yrs on decent coin with all his defensive deficiencies.. not without Manly picking up a big chunk of it... but.. who knows.

If you get any updates pls let us know, I just hope its not as serious as Finau Latu's.. could cost Charlie his pre-season, which will cost him a chance of really nailing 2026.
