Round 25 vs South Sydney

Last few games until tonight he has been good. Very bad tonight.
He started the rot when we were nil mistakes for about 28 minutes until he threw a bad off load that eventuated in a Souths try. Never have been in the match since really. Thank goodness that game is over. Our boys have lost the motivation after being so good against those other top teams and without JDB to motivate them and the others out injured we were a lost cause tonight.

I want to see a bit of a lift from the guys for the last two games at home to give me hope for next year.

Life without Jack unfortunately.. the guy who turns things around when were getting beaten up.. that said there was no world we won tonight's game.. we didn't look like scoring, we would have had to beat them them physically to start generating errors like we have against the top4 sides recently.. conversely when we dont do that.. we have teams come up with low errors like tonight... that said Souths completing @100% was ridiculous.....

Alternatively we hit them with some class like Vals footwork which we heavily rely on for most of the year.. but didnt have out there tonight, none of the current outside backs can really generate a line break as is.. especially in the wet, Souths handled us easily even without Campbell Graham who was the big problem last time we played.

Definitely the bridge too far with those 3 HIA's on top of our injury situation.. but still a bit disappointed we didnt score at all.. and letting Ward dominate us I mean damn... hope we can turn it around next week @ home with Jack and Sele back...

A highly embarrassing game. all the credit for last week, but this week it was disgusting, no use blaming it on the players we dont have, souths had just as many out. This is why I can never trust this team to stop having these shellacking's every now and then, no matter what their previous form is like, you just know its bound to happen. I actually had my hopes up for this game, how silly of me. The team should be made to publicly apologise to the brave Dragons fans that were out there tonight. Hang your heads in shame boys, because tonight you set a new record for losses against Souths. I'll quote one of Flanno's lines in the PC last week, " we will fight hard in every game for the rest of the year"

Burn the tape on that one. A perfect storm, got it out of the system. We need to end the season with a bit of energy with our last 2 home games.
Perfect storm of problems:
  1. Slow backline
  2. Crap halves. Par for the course for Kyle but LKT was really bad tonight.
  3. Lack of creativity in the forwards. Just one out running.
  4. Yet more ridiculous calls against us. That forward pass for the Johnston try and the lack of a sin binning early in the second half.
Solutions:
  1. Bite the bullet and recall Sloan despite his defensive frailties.
  2. No solution this year. Flanno set it up just how he wants it.
  3. JDB and Stewart in, Cook back to hooker, Liddle playing fewer (but still significant) minutes.
  4. Not sure a solution exists. Keep complaining. Demand refs gets sacked.

Go for someone unproven. A young assistant with some news ideas to compliment, well I wouldn't call Flanno a dinosaur but an veteran coach.
We do need better support coaches. Carr really hasn't set the world on fire with great consistent attacking systems in the past three or so years with us and then we have Deano who just could not get the players to defend consistently well for the Cowboys when there and now us. Too much up and down by both assistants so you could not say for sure that if we were leading with ten minutes to play that we would hold on to win or with ten minutes to play that we could win when behind in our attack.
Just like trying to get some decent players, we most probably won't be able to get a decent attacking coach to replace Carr. I think Deano still has a year or two with us.

It is so frustrating :(

I have two more comments about last night.
  • Gular wasn't that bad in hindsight. He tried for a few offloads that weren't on but someone had to try something because otherwise the attack or lack of was painful to watch.
  • I didn't like Flanno's presser. True those two dud referring decisions didn't cost us the game but Flanno needs to make a noise every time it happens so it hopefully doesn't cost us any more games in the future.

Zip- 40. That is the lack of consistency our extended coach has instilled into this club. Not even one point against a club lower than us, the week after we took down the comp front runners. This team needs an immediate injection of class!
DD is it any wonder I cant follow you optimism mate.

They had a lot out. Just a few too many. Just the forwards had Toby and Ryan Couchman, Egan, Su'A, Sele. Stewart and the big one, JDB out. How can a club which already considered itself short of good forwards be competitive without all them?

We haven't seen that team for a few months, very disappointing.
We had a lot out and so did Souths.

Points to consider
Thursday night game after a trip to NZ v top 4 side.
Losing 3 to HIA meant Cook Liddle Klemmer playing extra minutes in both games, even Gutho 15 minutes at lock takes a toil.
Ray replacing Luch meant we basically played with 4 middles last night.

Although the above mention played well they didn't have that energy to give that extra when needed.

Next week new game, Bomber, Hame and maybe Su'A back.
