Round 1 team so far in 2026

I know it's way too early for this but as it stands right now.

Backline is very ordinary but forward pack is looking strong. I chose Gular at No.8 because the starting pack is a bit too lightweight with Couchman or Sele starting with the other Couchman.

The idea of starting with LPT and Gular as props then bringing both Couchmans on as a kind of one-two punch has merits.

Nick T has got to be there somewhere, and are you saying KF wont even be in the top 17, hmmmmmmm.

I'm a big Nick T fan but who are you going to leave out to make way for him? No, Kyle will have to work his magic in reserve grade which I'm not happy about. Reserve grade halves should be Reed and Hammoud.

Whilst I agree with you, my head and my heart are telling me some vastly different scenario's. I just cannot see KF being out of that 17, could be wrong, but the Angels song always rears its head " Am I ever Gonna See Your Face Again"

Sad it's come to this. Can't Flanno understand he is just piling pressure on Kyle and himself? I've always said in theory he would be a good #14. Coming on at hooker and being injury cover in the halves. But with Cook and Liddle signed for next year, that won't happen.

I'm trying not to comment on Kyle for now, at least until we know what his purpose in the squad from next season is but I have to say, Flanno has brought this hate on Kyle.

There are too many people media etc talking about it now mate, all I know is if KF is in the halves as of Rd 1 next year, then Flanno and KF will have a target on their back. Regardless of any contract extension if the Dragons are getting tuned up Flanno will be a dead man walking.

Maybe he meant "to the other side" like how it's used in a supernatural sense in popular culture. He means Kyle is shedding his mortality and becoming some kind of god or devil.

On a serious note, they were praising LKT all season. Maybe they felt he needed a dose of humility. I still think Atkinson #7 and LKT #6 for the trials and first few rounds barring injury. But who are going to be the wingers? Surely Flanno can see Feagai and CT wingers, Suli one centre and Holmes not as fast as he used to be the other and Gutho fullback isn't going to get the job done.

Exactly, look at the crowds the Tigers and the Eels were getting for example. They both have fine attacking weapons and while they didn't do much better than us on the ladder they usually played an entertaining, attacking brand of football and I guess their fans saw some hope for the future.

On the issue of our wingers, we need at least one regular winger who has speed, height and strength to effectively challenge others he is opposing.
On Gutho as fullback, while he does chime in and has ability to break through a tackle, however, once he does, he is just too slow to take full advantage and run further and then pass the ball to that speedy, tall, strong winger to score a try.

With Holmes, he is starting to show signs of being injury prone and at his age likely to suffer more and slow him down. Suli is a strong, robust centre and is a good runner going straight but without the ability to side step and shilly shally in attack. He and Holmes are effective defenders. They will be our starting centres in 2026.

CT as a winger on the other side of the field to the speedy, tall, strong winger has to maintain fitness and get his hamstrings sorted out. He isn't the fastest winger by a mile but he can bust players near the line to score. Feagai is a player we need as a back up for wing and centre positions.

After saying all of that, we do need plenty of speed and strength from our backline and with our halfback contingent for 2026, let the best men win.

Fans love to see their teams win which i have just stated the obvious. How the teams win it would not matter. But having a team score scintillating tries on a regular basis brings excitement and eagerness for the fans to see them and with that the fans know that their team has a great chance of winning their games and go and watch them for the kills.

The Dragons for a few years have just been a week to week proposition with uncertainty and with surprises not predicted. So you cannot bank on them, even though the previous head sponsor was one.
