Round 1 team so far in 2026

I didn't want us to sign Savala. I was watching him last year from a Supercoach perspective and he was very quiet on the field. He didn't appear to be a organising/general type of halfback. He didn't look to have much of a running game either. If he didn't have a big boot on him, he wouldn't offer much at all. There were some games when Easts really went on the attack scoring points and he scored a few tries backing up. I don't even think Easts consider him as their long term half to partner Walker either. He was duel position in Supercoach last year, with second row the other position. We should be aiming higher than Savala. He turns 24 in April, so he isn't that young either.
I think Savala said he wasn’t accepting any offers and wanted to stay at the Roosters. Possibility of taking over from DCE.

I would also start with Kyle over LKT. I want us to have someone else there instead of Kyle by next year. As I previously said, I am not convinced of LKT, but do hope that he can develop his game and take it to another level, improve his defence and push for a first grade spot. I think we should be going massive for Jaxon Purdue to be one of our halves in 27, playing alongside either Atkinson or Reed. Or have Reed at halfback and Atkinson 5/8 next year. When we signed Atkinson, I thought we signed him to play 5/8.

Does anyone know if Atkinson has a nick name. I thought it may be Acko. I thought of the Heath Ledger movie called Two Hands. It was one of his first movies
I'm not a big fan of LKT. He has to improve his defence in particular. I think with the right coaching he can do it. Remember how Sowie improved under Bennett? Other than that, he's "much better" than Kyle in every facet of the game and that was when he was only 19. I can tell you now, Kyle isn't getting better. He's a veteran now.
No i don't 100% agree..
Like 50%? He has a good kicking game but hasn't been good over the last 2 years or vice versa?

I understand the rigours. Of the NRL are demanding but he was a lazy trainer and was carrying too much weight now I’m more than happy to see him train the house down get himself super fit and see what he is capable of on the field which I’m sure is quite good as he is very talented. But why wait until the last year of your contract to do this and prove everyone wrong. If he has a stellar year what would we do with him ? I can’t see him taking less money nor wanting to play KOE a lot. Interesting times ahead for him.
I hear you justa, but to be quite honest I really don’t care about anything other than 2026 for Luc. If he can go hard and help us make the 8 this year then I’m sure they’ll be a retention conversation but let’s have that good year first!

Cup team will be stronger than last year which is nuts. Warriors will have a serious drop off, they’ve lost 5-6 absolute studs from that side. (Penrith signed most of them funnily enough)

Ramsey/Glover both had superb seasons so the guys filling their spots have big shoes to fill but the Forwards and outside backs will be top tier for that level of footy

It’s the right kind of environment for LKT to continue his development when he’s not in the NRL side

Having a strong ressies side will be invaluable to the NRL side. I think that is what DA wanted in all the lower grades which I think will be strong as well

Ressies have always been the connection between our rising junior stars and 1st grade. I've also found decent Ressies coaches greatly assist in the transformation from young adults to adults. Invaluable if I may say myself 😁

Hmmm im not sure about that.. I guess ONeill is a step up from Glover (though Glover went great), but I dont think Sloan can do anything like what Ramsey did for us in 2025.. but we shall see.. im curious if they have someone else in mind for the fullback position moving forward... Quinn? Feel like we went after some young blokes but didnt land them.. and Sloan is still on the books for 2026.. dont think anyone else in our roster is a serious fullback prospect they would be looking at.. would be shocked if we arent going hard after a 1st grade fullback atleast for 2027.....

Forwards rly were the cornerstone of the year though... we will miss Liu, and I think we will see less of guys like LPT, Halangahu, Nick who may be up in first grade.. that said.. I mean without injuries they dont all fit in first grade.. so some of them have to drop back. hopefully no serious injuries like Ryan and Egan had, and there are maybe some forwards im forgetting, but guys like RFM and BMM will be gone also... CST will be a year older and im hopeful there...

I thought Sloan might excel in reserve grade.

1 Gutho
2 Fale (unseen besides highlights reel, but apparently training on one wing)
3 Holmes
4 Suli (I think he is better suited to edge backrow, but we are stacked with them now)
5 Setu Tu (unseen, but training on the other wing)
6 Flannagan
7 Atkinson
13 Stewart
12 Su'a
11 Leilua (start with the experience. Halangahu or R Couchman could start if preseason really good)
10 T Couchman
9 Liddle (could start with Cook, as Liddle is great off the bench, but he should play at least 50 mins a game.
8 Guler
14 Cook (would be good impact off the bench or start with him for the first 30 minutes)
15 Pasifika Tonga
16 Kerr
17 R Couchman

We let Glover go. I am not disappointed about that. From the highlights package I saw, he looks like a catch and pass, or kick type. I see more hope in Reed and O'Neil. Glover has gone to Souths, who have Humphreys and Walker as their 2 halves that most experts have starting the year at half and 5/8. Walker is running on old legs and spent a lot of time on the sideline. Humphreys was going OK until he got injured. He can also play hooker. Ward got a game last year for them against us and looked classy, but he is pretty small/light. Glover may get a run. I looked up Glover's fantasy points and he was only averaging 53 or so and that was with goal kicking too. He and Illias were both complaining about not getting a run in first grade. Personally I don't see either of them as future regular first graders.

I think Sele will be in.
That is what I would pick, so you could put it in the want category. Sele has never impressed me much. I would like him to change my mind. It is only Fale and Tu who I haven't seen in first grade yet. I like the highlights package of Fale. From a Supercoach perspective, I want them picked. lol I did think CT would be the first winger chosen. He was going excellent at the beginning of last year. I didn't like him at Manly, but don't mind him. Tu is about 27 and yet to debut, so I am not too confident about him. The more I think about it, I would probably pick CT ahead of him, but he is apparently going to start off on one wing and I don't mind seeing how he goes. Fale could also push for centre spot if there is an injury to one of the current ones.

Yeah, he probably will in attack, but if we have a potential better fullback, then I would give him a run. I ran out of patience with Sloan after his second season in first grade. When Griffin first dropped him, I didn't agree with it and wanted to see him given more time. In hindsight Griffin was correct. He has had more than enough chances. He is still unsigned beyond next season, so it doesn't look like any NRL clubs are interested in him. No other clubs want him for next year either. He will probably go well in the English Super League. I think Dufty was much better.
