some of the Steelers SG Pack I am hopeful atleast 1 will take a big step up into higher grades.... Weatherall, C.Meafou, M.Andrews & Phillips.

Leeroy played in the last trial and looked tiny compared to the Storm, I think Andrews is bigger than him now and gas surpassed him on the field.
In all the games I've seen Phillip play I have yet to see him do anything that warrents the talk about him.

Rokko Walker:

The Dragons have just signed New Zealand rugby sensation Rokko Walker.

The Dragons have just signed New Zealand rugby sensation Rokko Walker.
Club: Dragons. Matts Cup.

Position: Five-eighth / Fullback

School: Cranbrook School Bellevue Hill

Skills: Speed, Step / Footwork, Running Game, Vision

A huge off-season buy which stirred up plenty of feather in rugby union circles, it’s a big change for the youngster who has made the move from New Zealand, but has the skillset to come good.

Formerly a first XV five-eighth, the 188cm teen is an avid runner in the same position for league, with the pace to match.

A four-year deal at the Saints has them sure they are in safe hands.

Asher Chapman:

Club: Illawarra Steelers Matts Cup.

Position: Hooker

School: N/A

Skills: Speed | Running game | Step/footwork | Passing

Chapman’s biggest asset is his pace, which he uses to great effect out of dummy half either servicing front rowers or breaking the line himself.

With wheels to burn and good footwork, the under-16s City rep is just as prolific in union, but is contracted to the Dragons for another two years.

The Telegraph with its favourite depending on the players manager.

Rokko at 8 and Asher at 12 is way off.

Asher has played Rep schoolboys, Harold Matts a year young, Waratahs and Wallabies under 16 and can play anywhere in the spine.

Rokko is extremely talented but has so far played Schoolboys XV as per all decent NZ juniors.

I was involved in the early scouting of Rokko I mention him in here last June ish so I know his ability but I'm not getting carried away until we see him against decent opposition.

Members in here saying he is a super star or our long term number 6 is way over the top.
Especially when I guarantee they have never seen him play a game of footy and couldn't pick him out a line up of the team. Especially with that quote of him being 188 cm haha

Let's see what the rep season reveals.

Gonna go hit the yardwork with a beer or 2, as saturday is going to be a complete write-off in terms of productivity...

Gonna be hard going too.. the good thing about knowing all the faces and body types is u can pick em without needing to look up the team sheet.. but this year with all the new faces... you have to keep looking em up its a pita.. but BarTV says it has a commentator for every game now, so that can save the lookup.. it also updated yesterday to include both SG Ball games, so everything is covered live.

Good idea mate.. good to have you back either way. Any news on how the club view heidke?
I know im obviously bias as his fanboy, but I heard on um.. fark it was either woodsy on MMM or it was SEN.. i listen to too much.. but they mentioned Heidke was pairing up against Val and Suli at training over the preseason.. and I dont know if I heard the exact wording correctly as 'he toweled them up'.. but he was certainly causing them a lot of problems... up against hardened first graders... the question is do they want to accelerate his contract this year or is he likely to have to remain in flegg to start in 2026? Dev in 2027? There are a lot of bodies they need to fit in that reserve grade squad.

Also dont want to look too far into the future but I was cleaning up the team list sheet for next year, and I think with guys like Tu, Connor, Reed, CST and I think Weatherall listed as Top30 (maybe some of those have changed), plus consider players yet to be signed for 2026 and 2027.. there arent 'that' many spots for 2027.. like there are some.. but its gonna get tighter every year from here.

FB_IMG_1770095860477.jpgPlenty has been said about the names players so I'll pick a smokie from each team to watch.

Lawson Rinaldi is one of a few late pick ups from Sharks. It may take him a few weeks but look for him to have an impack.

Also Rokko moving from FB to 6 is something I pushed for, he needs hands on the ball. Maddox is tall and fast and should handle FB.

A few others to watch

Kruz Efarimo has speed to burn, not the complete package but watch him light up in space.

Hunter Fangupo is a unit expect him to rip in.

Jake Swan on the bench a year younger and a big future, very much a Hamish style. May force his way into 13 during the season
