Halangahu for MOM. Just in front of Reed.
I agree. The kid is fast maturing now, tho for me still the same criticism that he lacks sufficientb involvement on the edge. Note how his best work is when he comes into the middle. Still I can see him coming off the bench in Firsts sometime soon. As for the other kid, he is ahead of his tender years, so composed in most of what he does. Ressies tho is a good sized step up so will take him some time to find his feet. For starters he needs to stiffen his defense.

Good all round performance by the Dragons, got a bit scrappy in the end but held strong overall. Maybe some questions here firstly is H good enough to be NRL, if so then when Cook leaves, then he's the man. Secondly that TPH, gee he provides great energy, fearless as well, would love to see him at FB again, I really think this kid can make it.

Well done lads , lets hope you have set the tone for the day !!

Match Notes (NSW Cup)
  • So Sele is starting and no LPT.. that's a good sign I hope? Reed is back, yes! TPH has moved into left centre with Fale outside him (im rly happy about that, Fale is just a winger imo) & JDB playing also which I'm stoked about tbh cause we wont see him in first grade.
  • 6mins: We were under a bit of pressure early but easily handled it.. and after forcing an early mistake Haele streaks downfield and puts Rumble away. 6-0.
  • 22mins: We've been making inroads all over the park.. eventually they completely take the pi$$ sitting on top of Halangahu 1m short of the line and an eel goes to the bin.. off the back Reed with a crazy long pass to his winger Rumble into space.. but was still a lot to do.. no one from first grade would have had the pace to do it.. he got a little lucky maybe but it was a nice finish from Toby. 10-0
  • 28mins: Haele tearing them apart again, gets Reed away but he's rounded up but we spread it via Sloan to Fale who cruises into the corner 14-0.
  • 36mins: Haele saves a try on our line and then off an intercept Fale picks it up and motors down field 90m very easily... pretty quick for a dragons back.. 20-0.
  • 40mins: So Fagalilo is on at hooker but Haele is still playing somewhere.. but so is Reed and LKT.. in any case.. final play before half time, LKT with a mid field bomb.. Haele races through to catch it uncontested... and chucks it back to Jacob to Fale who beats 2 tackles to crash over for a first half hat-trick! 26-0.
  • 47min: Want to give Toby Rumble a wrap here.. I'm not a big fan but he's had a great game today, he held up his winger 1on1 here who looked certain to score...
  • 50min: Fale tearing it up, I think Quinn is into left ctr, maybe TPH has taken LKTs spot and he's on first grade backup.. Sele has done a pretty painful lower leg injury here also.. couldn't see anything in the tackle tbh.. 3rd guy did come in but it was gentle. He did go off but he was walking all be it gingerly..
  • 55mins: Eels fullback drops Reeds bomb and we pounce off the next set.. Reed to Quinn to Halangahu who barges over some tackles to score 32-0.
  • 66mins: Had a couple of head high tackles on our fellas but we managed to attack and on the last Reed has put a sort of 45deg inside attacking kick which the fullback has put down and Sloan just has to put a hand on it to score.. very unusual angle 38-0.
  • 73mins: TRumble looks to have picked up a lower leg injury.. we have had quite a few guys go down with injuries or head high tackles in this game.. he's stayed on though.
  • 76mins: We finally let a try in, TRumble isn't able to stop this one.. shame to let one in so late but such is life.. 38-4.
  • 79mins: Shame.. Reed almost picks up a loose ball, Eel knocks it forward but ref doesn't see it and play is allowed to continue with a massive overlap TRumble cant stop 38-8 Full Time Score.
  • Overall a very dominant win, only the Eels 2nd game but their first loss.. Eels looked rly dangerous late in that game.. but I mean we were up by 38.. nervous for Sele off the back of it.. but great to see Reed finish his game he is a night and day difference between the other halves options we have had in NSW cup.. has time and so many choices.. still got a lot to learn I'm sure though and size to put on.

This is a well coached footy team. I know its far too early in the season to be making rash statements but with natural improvement this is a serious footy team with fire-power right across the park. I very much liked our defensive line speed and scramble when the first line was beaten which wasn't too often today. Serious top 4 contenders.
