Round 3 - DRAGONS vs Eels at CommBank

You could hear Cooper Cronk pulling his hair out for someone to go left and give Suli the ball, but we just kept going right, doing the same predictable thing hoping for a different result.

If he could see it, why couldn't our coaches? If they did see it, why didn't they do something about it and get the message to the team? If they did, why didn't they listen and execute? And what will be the consequences? What's going to change next week?

So effing frustrating this team!

He butchered 3 or 4 opportunities today that a fullback with average speed would have put away a 2 on 1 with the winger

Parramatta weren’t good today btw, distinctly average and we just beat ourselves
I think a lot of teams will seem not have played well against us. It's got to do with Flanno's ultra-conservative game plans. Though in the second half of the season, teams will probably start putting big scores on us.

I can’t stress this enough, we are playing the worst team in the comp next week (if it’s not us)

Even if we scrape a win, let’s not overplay it

Remember who we’re facing and have a higher standard for ourselves

I will be manly and cowboys biggest fan the next few months praying they string enough wins together and hold onto their coaches

I can’t have another season of Flanno HC Kyle 6 and Gutho 1

They are long odds to sack Flanno
We will win the Titans game and be mediocre for the rest of the yr

Well a 0 and 3 start to the season. We have been in every game but don't have the creativity in our halves to take advantage of those efforts.

That last pass that broke the camels back from Atkinson was far too hard and wasn't the right type of pass at that time and that was the end of the game when the Fox raced away untouched.

I don't blame Atkinson he has been out of action for quite a while, is still rusty and learning his trade, but at the moment is not a genuine 7 , he needs improvement in certain skillsets and his understanding on how to be a game manager.

But he is a vast improvement on what we have had for many years. It will take time.

We made 10 errors, 4 errors by one our most experienced players Holmes has contributed to this loss. But in reality its the self inflicted pressure we create on ourselves because of our lack of creativity when in possession.

11 runs for 67m by your play makers is not going to cut it v 16 for 136m for them.

Same with dummy half runs 4 for 42m just isn't good enough. Someone in the halves needs to run with ball in hand and take on the line.

When you have either your 6 or 7 doing that you straighten your attacking structures and that make space to your outside. Our 6 and 7 today were going sideways far too much today.

There were glimpses of hope. Atkinson did create a beautiful try for Su'a with his pass because he moved forward before sliding causing their defensive line to stop, thus creating a gap for Su'a to score untouched.

Same with Flanagan that was a beautiful kick for the Suli try. But you have to consistently do those plays, it can't be one off efforts, it needs to be regular occurrences.

We won every single statistic in that game, apart from the kicking metres and of course we lost where it counted the most, on the scoreboard.

The initial game plan was good and worked well. Our engine room actually layed the platform for us to win that game, 6 forwards running 100+ metres. I can't recall a team losing a game with those stats.

The team as a whole had more run metres, more tackle busts, more offloads yet we lose the game.

However, you need to have a 1,6,7 and 9 that can take advantage of that game plan and we just simply don't have that ability to do so with our current spine on a regular basis.

That is just the reality after watching the first 3 games of this season in which unfortunately we once again in my view we won't be playing semi finals football, and that saddens me to say.

Great post, jodragon40 jodragon40. Just watched the replay and I can see Atkinson is an improvement on previous years. From 7 through 13 we’re genuinely competitive. I just hope we see a couple of changes in the backs next week
