I don't think he's dumb. He just doesn't care anymore. He'd rather get sacked than drop Kyle. If Kyle is fit but no selected, he isn't entitled to his salary. Might even be a breach of his contract allowing him to be fired. Flanno had to pick him.
I would say Cook looks like it Dave,We need a guy who knows the rules and some sneaky tricks and a good talker to be Captain in place of Gutho. As far as I am concerned, out of the players that are likely to be selected to play against the Sea Eagles I cannot see anyone worthy of that mantle. In which case they will all be running around like rudderless chooks.

Why would anyone consider Cook an 80 minutes player now? He loses his ability to be effective when he plays longer than 25 min stints in my view. His passing isnt as crisp and his runs are far and few between
Well why then should he be the captain if you think that he is only good with 25 minute stints? I know that you haven't suggested Cook to be the captain and we probably won't find this out nearer the game. I think the captain should be on the field for as long as possible so I am at a loss as to who that could be. Cook does appear at the after game presser so he is a spokesperson and to me a worthy captain. So if he goes off for a rest, who then becomes the captain?
Mate I thought he was already co captain with Gutherson. I don't feel he is as effective playing too many minutes. I was thinking perhaps when he was subbed that next man up would be Holmes
I am hoping Flanno pulls a late switch and plays Reed at halfback. That would explain why he has picked Acko at number 6. Why bother changing the numbers on Kyle's and Acko's back?
Maybe Flanno is going to bite the bullet and start with Reed? By picking him on the bench, it can avoid any media attention until 90 minutes before the game.
I'd suggest its just getting the kid use to game day atmosphere and being around the 1sts squad on match day. But your right after 4 ressies game he is sitting on the extended bench. Wouldn't surprise me it is also because Flanagan may not get through the game especially if he is hit hard. I was at the Titans game and he appeared to be unconscious for a short period of time after that head clash.
