Sack Flanno….

He took over a team/roster either fav or second fav for the spoon. A team that has struggled to sign quality in demand players since 2012. A club that was knocked by numerous prospective coaches since Bennett left, including Bellamy, Bennett, Ciraldo, Slater and Ryles. A club that the only 2 "aplicants" for the head coaching role were Dean Young and Ben Hornby. A club that managers didn't want their players to sign with, long before Flanno arrived. A club that has been surviving on other club's off cuts since 2012. If he got the players he wanted, then you could blame Flanno, but he didn't get the players he wanted. In 2019 Phil Gould said our problems were not our coach, who was then McGreggor. The rot started in 2012. Not when Flanno took over. The ship was sinking long before he got here and he wasn't able to turn it around in a 2 years and 5 games. Blaming Flanno for 14 years of failure is very short sighted. lol Remember when Souths couldn't sign anyone up until Crowe and Holmes A Court bought them and they then signed Asotasi. I predicted that we could end up like that in 2012. I wish I wasn't right about that one, but the writing was on the wall then. Before the merger "joint venture" did Illawarra ever sign a big name in demand player who wasn't at the end of his career? If so, name them.

I do think he should have been playing Reed since game one this season, instead of Kyle. That alone could have saved his coaching career. I think he should have been playing Leilua at prop all season and not had Lawrie in first grade.
Took over a team fav or second fav for the spoon and in 2, going on 3 years he's turned them into favourites for the spoon.

You are such a moron you don't even know you constantly contradict yourself.

Fitzgibbon, Ciraldo and Slater all come to mind.
This is what I don't understand about your comments. Maybe you are just that schizo no one of sound mind can understand.

Unless you have some inside info, which you obviously don't, Flanno was the second choice after Ryles. Unless you consider some Fox personality speculating ********* might be interested in the Dragons job or vice-versa, an offer. And as far as Ryles himself, he was a rookie coach coming in and making all kinds of demands. Club said, "no" so I'm not sure if that even counts as "an offer".

So why do you constantly say stuff like this? Is it that you want to illicit, "No one wants to go to the Dragons because they aren't based in a state capital and therefore can't win the competition ever"? I think that is exactly it. The way you keep bringing it up despite it annoying everyone and despite it being an utterly demented opinion, suggests to me you have serious problems. I've had enough personally.

Flanno obviously has to take responsibility for the position we’re in. However, his biggest misstep may well have been bringing the new attacking coach on board. Before we were decimated by injuries last year, Ryan Carr looked to be doing a reasonable job and probably getting as much as anyone could out of a slow backline.

You are an idiot. We approached Slater, Ciraldo and Fitzgibbon, but they all knock us back. That is a fact.

Frank, for the last time they approached them to see if they were interested in applying, they said no because they all were committed to other things. If we approached Anthony Albanese and asked him if he was interested in applying but he said hey I'm too busy being the Prime Minister but thanks, is that a knockback ? A knockback to me would be the Dragons going to any of those 3 and saying you have the job if you want it, all they wanted was for them to throw their hat in the ring and see what happens, they couldn't and we moved on. Ryles came in and rightly or wrongly made all these demands, which our board refused to go with, he then told us to stick it and went to Parra, he now has Brown and Gasnier there. I would say our board mostly as they usually do made a big mistake, its now proving so isn't it.
The board at this club that continue to make themselves untouchable and unaccountable for their positions and decisions they make will always be the downfall of this club. WB told them to stay out of it and won a premiership, but that was WB, no comparison to SF, he's a better coach, recruiter and man manager.

I've reached the conclusion that guy Frank hates St. George Illawarra.

AI knows all right? You cited AI a couple of weeks ago to try and support your case St. George Illawarra Dragons sucked more than anything has ever sucked before.

So here is the 'approaches', not offers merely approaches we made to all these coaches:

Before appointing Shane Flanagan in mid-2023, the St. George Illawarra Dragons conducted a fairly wide coaching search after sacking Anthony Griffin. Several candidates were either approached, linked, or formally considered:

Confirmed approaches / strong reports

  • Jason Ryles
    • Widely reported as the club’s first-choice candidate.
    • He turned the Dragons down, which forced them to look elsewhere. (Yahoo Sports)
  • Billy Slater
    • The Dragons reached out to gauge his interest, but he declined. (FOX SPORTS)

Other serious candidates / linked options

  • Dean Young
  • Ben Hornby
  • Michael Cheika
    • His name emerged during the search, with interest communicated via a third party. (Daily Telegraph)

Context

  • The club was actively canvassing multiple options after Griffin’s dismissal, effectively “casting the net far and wide.” (FOX SPORTS)
  • Shane Flanagan himself had been linked to the role for some time before ultimately being appointed. (Yahoo Sports)

Summary

Before settling on Flanagan, the Dragons’ coaching hunt included:
  • Direct approach: Jason Ryles (rejected), Billy Slater (declined)
  • Strong candidates: Dean Young, Ben Hornby
  • External option: Michael Cheika

He's just trying to get the thread off track again. Club is in a strong position off the field. Just need to sack Flanno and get a professional coach who puts the team first in his professional life. A coach who realises you can't build a team for prolonged success by leaving very talented young players in reserve grade in favour of veterans the coach has recruited but who are playing very badly.

Sacking Flanno won’t fix anything mate and I’ve been Flanno out since mid last year.
