The Board has to take some responsibility for this debacleMy 2c worth from an old coaches perspective and unfortunately having been once in the same position. I didn't lose my job.
Ok I haven't won a game for a while now. I've given the old guard every opportunity to dig themselves out of the hole the team finds itself in.
By the old guard I mean my senior players, Gutho, Holmes, Su'a and Cook. I've spoken to them separately away from the whole squad.
Yet although a bit better last night we are 0 - 6, my head is now on the chopping block. Have I lost the dressing sheds?
After the game I've been informed that there is a board meeting on Tuesday. Is the writing on the wall or will I have the opportunity to explain and defend myself? Is my position untenable?
If I am to be shown the door who comes in as interim.? Probably my assistant Young who has been with me through all this and but he has had his input. So what is he going to change with the same squad of players? The same cattle?
So is Tuesday a lay down misere or not? I mean the same board just extended my contract last year. Am I going to be told that I have more time to turn this around or be shown the door.?
I have spoken to some board members already privately, I believe I know what is coming. So am I going to walk before I'm pushed? Depends on my contract.
The rest of us, players, supporters now sit and wait for Tuesday. As I said I didn't lose my job.
Ever had to deal with a board? I have and in my experience they will never admit fault or making a mistake. The Board has to take some responsibility for this debacle
They extended Flanno without reason.
They need to acknowledge the mistake and deal with it before we lose our better juniors.
Ryan back Anzac Day. Egan should be back after the bye and same for Tsougranis. So hopefully they miss only the next 2 gamesI think Nick T is injured for a couple more weeks. He and Ryan Couchman and Egan might be available at almost the same time.
Still banging on about the JV? Poor guy, I feel sorry for him.@Frank Facer Keep wasting time, raving this BS (which I just deleted) as much as you like. Hope you enjoy the effort because as soon asjodragon40 or myself see it or it's brought to our attention, it's getting deleted.
I think it has to be a board decision. And as far as payouts go, it depends what termination clauses are in his contract and I doubt too many people would know. Why does the board have to meet to decide Flanno’s future ?
Can’t someone just fire him ?
If Flanno does get boned next week what sort of a payout will he get ?
SirStill banging on about the JV? Poor guy, I feel sorry for him.
There was a Japanese soldier from WW2, still running around fighting WW2 in SE Asian forest until the 1960s. He knew Japan had lost but refused to accept it. I'm just going to put that non fiction story out there.
Lets not throw the baby out with the bathwater but why hasn't Flanno been sacked yet? What are they waiting for? Why wait until Tuesday? Are they going give him another couple of weeks? I can't believe anyone believes Flanno can turn it around from here.Like I said elsewhere take the young players out of the joint then Bulldoze and flatten St George Leagues Club then do the same to Illawarra Club with everyone else in the place ......... Then start again ......... St George Illawarra is TOXIC ........
Sad but a true description of our current boardBecause of the broken/archaic nature of the JV board ... Heah Coach/CEO need to be punted at the board level or by a panel convened by the board ... it is fucked ... If Tim had cart blanche i expect Flano would be gone most likely last week ...
To make it worse
1. The split sides are happier to see the other side fail than the two sides win together
2. the St George side of the board would be running everythign through the leagues club meaning daddy has a say in son (Letterhead and Dean)
3. If one side says no and one side says yes there is no casting vote from Lancaster so the status quo remains.
The board is a cluster f*ck for making decisions like this.
Seems the problem is there are 2 owners who don't agree with each other very much. But can’t the owner of the club just sack him ?
F***ing perfection... email it to Watsford!GM: Richardson
Recruitment manager: DA
CEO: Watsford
Head coach: Cheika
Attack coach: Talau
Defence coach: ? I don't mind Dean Young staying on under better supervision
Pathways manager: Mug Fan
Yes to delay the inevitable would be cardinal Eric. There is no time like tomorrow to make the ejection. Get it done with little fuss and bother and have the club one less thing to worry about because there are many other things to worry about that is for sure.Lets not throw the baby out with the bathwater but why hasn't Flanno been sacked yet? What are they waiting for? Why wait until Tuesday? Are they going give him another couple of weeks? I can't believe anyone believes Flanno can turn it around from here.
Good old Jack has certainly played a year too long. Looks way off the pace. Some people like to make a big deal of Jason Ryles rejecting the Dragons offer. Watching the Titans-Eels game, I think Ryles might be the next coach on the chopping block after Flanno.
Wouldn't be surprised if Eels convened an emergency meeting this evening and sacked the coach while our 'stable genius' brains-trust still doesn't know what to do about Flanno. Some people like to make a big deal of Jason Ryles rejecting the Dragons offer. Watching the Titans-Eels game, I think Ryles might be the next coach on the chopping block after Flanno.
