Round 7 V Souths

Its sad that died in the wool, ancient in years, supporters like myself just have this 6th sense that my team just won't win this weekend because nothing has changed. 1 injury required change Feigai for Suli. Is that the best we can come up with?

I think my Anzac Day is going to be a very long day again this year. Lest we forget.

I’m shocked that you’re shocked that the moron selected basically the same team bar a forced change with Suli
I've said a few times, I think Flanno wants out. He's a grandfather and he's tired. The criticism Kyle has gotten really hurts Flanno and the whole family, as he said.

But if he walks away, his payout is substantially less or nothing at all. So he wants to get sacked.

Nothing else about what he is doing makes any sense to me.

But if Flanno was deliberately trying to get sacked that would be the lowest of the low.

I am sure it appeals Bennetts sense of humour to unleash Dufty against his former club.

Well hopefully he gets his wish at ft on Anzac Day. I’d expect some form of club announcement by 6pm that night right after the game, EPL style.

Your theory makes sense, Edward. It does look like Flanno wants out, and I believe the club would be comfortable settling on a fair severance to make that happen. A figure in the $400–500k range has been mentioned in another thread, which feels about right. I don’t see it as a stand‑off, more that the club wants him to stay in place until the replacement is settled and the timing lines up, which may be the bye week.

I honestly think that if we get Bellamy in say two weeks time or even have Bennett back, would they have any real success with the bunch of players we have? Maybe they might throw caution to the wind and play some younger kids, who have got a bit more x factor about them and with a tad more speed, from the lower grades, but would that actually get us wins? It is such a predicament and I am glad that I don't have to make the decisions on any of this drama. Sack Flanno, who takes over? Young, Hornby, Talau, Arthur, Demetriou? Good luck!!

Souths in a canter on Saturday night my friends.

I have never heard of an NRL coach wanting out, without having another club to go to, such as Hasler to Canterbury or Cleary to Penrith.

This poor excuse for a coach who shud already have been sent packing has again picked all his favorites. FF sakes BOD do your duty as he is dictating the terms you weak individuals.

Oh poor poor Flanno. What coin does a head coach get these days, as much as an elite player? HE IS OVERPAID going on his abysmal win/loss record. The flack both he and his son cop is well deserved and yes being a father, it hurts him. But he did bring it on himself as he shud never have come here with his boy. That was plain dumb and a move that has seen us remain a mediocre club and him with one foot out the back door...

You misunderstood me. I wasn't trying to elicit any sympathy for Flanno. Just speculating on what he is thinking.

I recall Roy Masters wanted to leave in 1986, because he felt coaching had taken its toll physically and mentally, but the club talked him into staying on. He probably thought sports journalism was better for his health than coaching.

I know the table makes it look like we’re fielding a below sub‑standard squad Dave, but I believe our fortunes would look very different under a Bellamy or a Bennett. Any chance we can organise a one‑week coaching swap to test the theory?

I am not saying your are wrong, but Souths only won one more game than us last year with Bennett there. They had a better roster than us and we both were decimated with injuries.

Melbourne have now lost their last 4 games, with their only wins this season coming against us and Parra, who are the bottom 2 teams on the ladder. Again Melbourne have a much better roster than we do, especially better spine.

Good observation Frank, but given where we are, I would be happy with a 33% win / loss ratio.

Yes just goes to show that no matter who you are in this comp, there is just no guarantee of wins. Souths though are doing a lot better this year and I feel sure that Bellamy's team will start to get their wins against better teams than just us and the Eels throughout the year but could miss out in the all important top 4 zone..
