Dear Red V Members,
I’ll be straight with you: 0–7 is a failure. I won’t dress it up, and I won’t insult you by trying.
You have invested money, time and genuine passion into this club. That gives you every right to be angry.
That said, I also want to speak to you directly about an important decision for our club.
NRL Head Coach Shane Flanagan and General Manager of Football Ben Haran have departed the Dragons by mutual agreement.
These are not decisions anyone makes lightly. Shane and Ben have both worked hard for the club, and on behalf of the Dragons, I want to thank them for their efforts, professionalism, and dedication.
What matters now is what happens next. That means building something that lasts. Our focus is on making the right decisions for the club and on building something sustainable, not on chasing quick fixes.
On the field, the playing group knows where this club stands and what is expected of them. From here, that must be shown in performance.
Off the field, we have also made record investment in our pathways, development and academy programs, with a clear focus on local juniors across both catchment areas. That work remains important to the club’s long-term future.
There is a lot being said externally right now. Our job is not to react to every headline. It is to improve performance, make sound decisions and communicate directly with you when it matters. News of this significance should come from us first.
I’m not asking you to lower your standards. I’m asking you to stay with us as we work to meet them.
That starts this week at Allianz Stadium against the Roosters in the Anzac Day clash.
We have a lot of work to do. We know that. And we will keep doing it.

TBH, it's very well said.

Now the Yeehah is official. I for one am 100% with you Tim Watsford.
Noting the Board has been untouched. Doust specially. He and the other suits appear to be bullet proof..

The big issue now is we will need new ballboys

Now the rot has been jettisoned I am feeling an air of excitement for our future, but caution Richie as we still need an injection of talent to take us forward. We have KK and Sami signed sealed and soon to be delivered and possibly Drinkwater. We need another quality winger and bookend.

I'd take Brad Arthur over Hornby, but my guy is Trent Barrett. Yes I can hear all the oh no's but as a very experienced assistant he has won premierships with the Panthers and Broncos. His attacking drills are one of the best as attested by Deine Mariner who today on the Footy Show said that all credit must go to Trent Barrett for the way that they attack. Yes, he failed at Manly, Dogs and Eels (interim) but what I am saying is that we need a much better attacking coach - one that we have not really had in over a decade but we wont be able to get Barrett as the assistant because he will stay on at the Broncos for as long as possible and maybe he might end up head coach there if Maguire finishes up. Alongside him I'd bring in James Maloney (If he can overcome some personal problems that he went through). Not too sure about a better defensive assistant coach though).

The main thing is No Flanno, No Youngo and No Enniso.
Trent Barrett has had 2 head coach chances and proven a disaster for both. I don't think he's even being considered for head coach but might be good as an assistant. Though isn't he an assistant with the Broncos now? Doubtful he'd leave to be an assistant elsewhere.

Kinda enjoyed Lancaster not taking shit from the journos
I thought it was a cop out. Not the time nor place. He should look at our clubs own media before commenting on others. Tim Watsford called as Tim Watson in an email, KK named spelled wrong in an email, kade reed listed as one of the coaches on our website.

Thought it was more about deflection. Time and place to blame others, not right now. Also didn't really answer the question about him extending flanno. Watsford looked genuinely emotional.

So either:
a) They genuinely don't know who the interim is (whether Young or Ennis don't want it... or are asking for assurance of 2027 and beyond which I hope we cant give)
b) They want to take the heat off who is announced

Either way I don't like it.. hopefully they just needed a few more hours to sign a contract or something..

I assume it's the latter. Also avoids jounos asking them questions directly about the interim. I've seen mug post it's likely to be young. I also want to know where Willie talau fits into all this.

Put Cheika in as interim coach. See how he goes !
He could only work as a 2027 head coach, he needs to find the right assistants and get a preseason going.. he's more of a high-level coach than Young or Flanno etc.. but I dont think we have the stomach for someone like that (if he even wanted it, I mean maybe he gets the roosters job next).. and its proving hard enough just to get both sides of the board to agree on any coach at all.
