Mate let’s be realistic here. 5 players out from last week with HIA’s, no Reed, No Kerr. They were always going to struggle against a decent team. Went with the chooks for 60 odd mins, just out of gas in the last 15 mins.

Bye next week, then all HIA’s hopefully back, Nick back, players back in first grade too which will help filter players back to cup. Take a chill pill, just a blip for now

Match Notes (NSW Cup):
  • So the 5 Failed HIA's from last weeks cup game... is 5 players out of our squads so that's a huge impact, but no bigger than Reed being up a grade plus LKT was one of the 5.. so the Flegg halves as up in Cup basically... in Hodges and Hammoud who is a goalkicker also (which we otherwise don't have)..... also the big inclusion of Egan also (hes actually playing right side btw which might be what we see next week.. though Leilua is suspended also)... Halangahu is backing up in the 2nd row (left side).. and Buchanan is back (right ctr).
  • 7min - We were hounding their line but a TPH intercept (which he chased down himself) had the roosters on the attack... eventually a half decent backline movement with Rodwell and Ramsey (which is hard to watch!) but it was Toby Rumble running out and getting noone leaving Jr Tupou an easy run to the line.. too big to stop 0-6.
  • 12min - We fight back, Sele steps and makes a clean line break himself, supported by Hutchinson who goes thru untouched 6-6.
  • 15min - Halangahu a nice run to get us on the front-foot and TPH double pumps and puts an easy short pass to Egan who is running right into a gap on the tryline 10-6.
  • 29min - After some repeat possession, Rodwell puts a nice inside ball in for his lock who is again too strong from that rage 10-12.
  • 38min - Fagalilo runs from dummy half and beats the first defenders.. TPH is backing up and runs about 40m where Egan is just sitting on his outside like its nothing, the winger outside him... takes the catch and goes in for a double lol.. 16-12.
  • 41min - Tried to barge over a few times before Hodges grubbers behind the defence for Rumble to pick up and score 22-12.
  • 46min - Monster Roosters prop just ran over us from short range lol.. 22-18.
  • 48min - Farkin Ramsey tears us apart and Roosters in front 22-24.
  • 57min - Lot of repeat possession, Rumble is 10m in field and they throw it over the top with 2 blokes unmarked.. 22-28.
  • I'll stop it there I was at the pub and had to catch up after seeing the score.. the roosters went on to smash us 28-48, but take it for what it is, half a jersey flegg team promoted against a very strong opposition.. gonna be hard for this team rolling forward if Reed stays in 1st grade all year.. hes the man.. and hes the premiere goalkicker... but LKT will return. Ramsey probably the difference, I mean TPH was good, but Ramseys acceleration is super quick.. in hindsight hes perfect for 1st grade this year for us.. but c'est la vie.

Who was the effin guy to say bye to Cody? He has bulked up and looks so much like a league player now even before he copped the ulcerative colitis illness. More muscle meaning more strength. I sort of knew that when Cody was signed up by the Roosters, they had the medicos give Robbo and their Recruitment guru their assessment of his condition and following that they had a plan to get him in tip top condition even though he would still have all the ongoing symptoms of his illness. They were able to help him, not like our useless mob. Jeeezus wept. Again, who was that nincompoop who let him go when we needed a guy like Cody. He is much better than Sloan and Gutho now in my opinion. Blast it, it pisses me off. All the bad decisions this club makes over and over for years on end. Useless as shit.

I am sick to death of our bad, bad, useless club.

I thought I read somewhere Cody is on $140,000 a year at the Roosters. And looking at him in the dressing room yesterday he looked fit and back to his old weight.
Always been a fan of him and I agree how we let him go is beyond me. Sure he hasn't played 1sts yet, but I reckon he would have been great instead of sloan.

they love Eagle lol.. I mean Leilua has been very good too in between some dud moments..

I was saying most of the year that the danger of leaving Flanno in place was not the W's and L's.. its that the players turn on eachother and say something we cant undo once he's gone... wasnt sure if Deano could get them all together.. hope he can do something in the next 2 weeks.. maybe get on the cans.

Their third showed the magic created by keeping the ball alive. Is not easy to line up your man when the ball is being offloaded constantly. All our grades should play like that. Our greatest Kangaroo sides and Saints golden era sides were masters at using second phase play. Mesmerizing to watch..

Full back Lucas Borg showed why I rate him as a future first grader. Chimed into the back line and seeing no way thru he had the vision to spot the overlap and threw a perfect cut out for his winger to stroll over.

A powerhouse, steam rolling, barn storming bust, not merely a nice run. Up the middle too, not on the edge where he seems reluctant to get stuck in with middle defense.

Turning point for mine. Afu is slow laterally in defense and Ramsey knew it as he swerved past him then stepped PH and waltzed over...

A newcomer that impressed was r/centre Malotai Tomo, not big but built with some serious heat. Scored a scintillation four pointer where he split the line with a textbook step then veered infield outpacing four or five defenders to put it down under the sticks. A guy to watch.

Mug Fan Mug Fan mentioned the 5 earlier in the week if you could be bothered to read the information he gives us. There’s no habitual dying in the last 20 mins for cup. The reason for losing the last 2 games is right in front of you instead of looking for other garbage

Absolute pet hate of mine, wingers who won't mark their man! On Saturday Feagai was at least 20 metres infield, came up empty and their unmarked winger scored the easiest of tries. If this happens a few times you put yourself under scoreboard pressure which means more risks taken, more errors made and more points for the opposition. Add a sin bin or two and it's no wonder heads go down and you get 62 points put on you.
Just fixing some of these schoolboy errors can change the whole dynamic of the game. Coach, please!
Sorry for ranting in the wrong thread, just gets up my nose.
