Schiller and Morkos haven’t burned us and I think the Feagai’s are better than both of them but Bostock looked like an obvious gun

Was so good to watch in SG ball the year dolphins pinched him, physically he’s on another level to Buchanan/Feagai bro’s. long dynamic and a real aerial threat

Heidke probably a better ball carrier than him from what I’ve seen but that’s only a very small part of being a first grade outside back

I would swap Mat for Schiller today in an instant.

We were all in on the twins and it cost us ...
Bostock/Schiller/Morkos were picked off because we were more interested in the likes of Lomax/Feagai x 2 plus we had Rava/Suli/Ramsey/Bird on board.

I understand their decisions to leave us but hindsight shows we really pulled the wrong lever on the twins.

They did have a very good junior CV though ...
f*ck recruitment and pathways.
Yes, they would have been hard decisions to make for the then recruitment and pathways staff as to who to keep and who to let go RR. We will continue to have these problems but I am sure that with the guys we now have who would have keener eyes to make better judgements will ensure that we don't get rid of the goodies but will rid the baddies. I hope so anyway.

And when you only have 30 NRL contracts and 6 Supplementary deals it is an impossibility to keep them all .. you have to make decisions on who you think will and who you think wont make it ... You simply cannot stockpile multiple untried juniors in those roles if other clubs come knocking esp a new club with 36 empty roster spots. You need the balance of experience/talent and promise.

No club keeps everyone, but the better clubs generally make a better fist of retaining the right players - we havent done that in recent times.

The mistake was not valuing Bostock highly enough compared to the players we decided to retain.
If feagai x 2/Ramsey/Lomax/Suli/Sloan kicked on like we had hoped this converation is null and void ... we made decisions rating some juniors above others and made mistakes ...

Being bent over by player agents doesnt help either. Some agents in particular seem to want to hold us over a barrell with players encouraging them to try and get out of deals or hold off signing until the favour deals are also made. Cancerous merkins.
He was obviously worth a dev contract. We have given out dev contracts to players who were nowhere near as good as him.

Didn't this happen under Griffin? He was notorious for making the wrong decisions on who to keep or recruit and who to let go.

Exactly Edward. Boy, did we ever have poor judges. But Rufus has hit the nail on the head with his comments.

You are very naive. The CRL (Chinese Rugby League) are monitoring the situation closely. They are deeply concerned about the effect the Luai signing will have on China's economic and strategic interests in the region. They are countering by expanding the CRL into Indonesia. The Jakarta Monsoon are scheduled to join the CRL in 2029. I am told that Munster is already a done deal. Expect an announcement soon.
Whilst you guys are obviously up to date with what is happening around the would, I have posted something from the news with Wayne Bennett complaing over the tax free dollars available to PNG.

"The move was designed to entice players to the Government-backed team, which is seen as a means for Australia to strengthen diplomatic ties in the hotly-contested Pacific"

So feel free to pull the piss out of certain comments, just make sure you dont come out looking like dickheads !!!

Probably for another thread but have to say, this China BS the gov and media carries on with is just that. They seriously justify spending massive money on increasing naval capability in order to protect trade with China from China.........

Back on subject, tax free probably took it a bit far. Could have made the tax less instead. I believe the top earners pay about 40% tax. Could have made it so they pay 15 or 20% and it still would have been a big incentive.

Totally agree, the thing that pisses me off is that it really has nothing to do with RL, and is going to cause some massive problems.

I'm all for expansion, would love to see eventually 24 team comp, play each other once and then semi's, with PNG, i have no issue with it, even though its to do with politics, if you bring them in then you want them to be successful, they got the tax concessions, clubs knew about it, they all got $4m out of it and now they want to complain, umm too late.. Has everybody forgotten our salary cap when we JV with Illawarra, it was double everyone else's i beat no Dragons fan had an issue with that..

Rorters are hammering the Donkeys. IMO we can take 2 lessons from this:
  1. They are playing red hot. We must recruit their assistant as our new head coach.
  2. Last week wasn't that bad. I mean, it was bad but make it 13 on 13 for 80 min and change our back 3 with theirs, I think we win easily. I just mean to say IMO we are not that far off being a competitive team.

They are not hammering them anymore, Roosters were lucky to hang on for a while there. We really need our halves sorted before we can compete IMO.

After I posted that, the game completely changed. These kind of momentum shifts happen under these new rules about play the ball speed. I don't like it personally. There days 60 points or more being scored in a game is normal. Not even especially high scoring.
