JD says Hi back, how did Henjack go coaching in the NRL ?
I think Wayne nominated him as his successor and he coached the Broncos in 2009 and 2010. From memory it was a pretty unsuccessful stint but he was sacked at the end of 2010. Believe it or not he was replaced by Anthony Griffin!

A bit of mixed success with people that follow Wayne. At least this time it would be a different club.

100%, I dont like the idea of Hornby, I would have preferred Arthur, what would Young's role be if Hornby came back ? Personally I think he would leave.

I am concerned about Hornsby as well. I can’t imagine Young staying on as his assistant. I do like Cheika but honestly I don’t know that he is the answer. Arthur may be the best compromise.

At the end of the day I hope the Board put politics to one side and really do their due diligence thoroughly.

One would think that the Dragons wining the wooden spoon would suggest that the board get united and playing on the same page. With the way at least these last few days have gone with recruiting, that was certainly surprising and shows that there are a lot of good things being done by the club, but I am concerned about this future appointment of a coach. We are starting to get glimpses of what a team will look like in 2027, we need a coach that can maximize all our strengths and play the modern game,

Yep .. and gives us time to get another 9 for 2028 as well.
Yep, lets us get a year into the 21yr old hooker if that takes place.. see if hes first grade ready to back up Liddle.. if not gives us time to chase another.. its just 1 less problem to deal with.

Do feel for Cook tbh, and im not convinced Watson is much better than Cook.. but meh im also happy to just make as much of a clean break as possible between 2026 and 2027.. I want it to feel like a new team.

I think what Foran has done with Manly has convinced Creagh, Watsford and whoever else is making the decisions Hornby is the right man for the job. He just might be though his record as an assistant isn't that good as far as I know. I just don't like the fact Creagh is the GM of football and Hornby head coach. Seems like the old boys still in control doing what is best for them, not for the team.

Last year and this year we have relied on the Three Amigos (Gutherson, Holmes and Cook) and in my opinion, all three were and continue to be not up to the grade for the money we have and are paying them. They have had their great moments, but unfortunately not too many for the Dragons. Who we end up getting and bringing through externally and from the juniors will be much better for the years ahead.

Appointing the right coach is of great importance and microscopic due diligence is required to ensure we don't f ck up again like we have done several times over the past decade.

Looking forward to a brighter future.

What we have seen from Foran is his great knowledge of how league is best played. The results that he has achieved is just uncanny seeing that he has not done any coaching let alone Head Coaching.

He is an inspirational person and looks to me to have the credentials to have a long and successful future as a Head Coach. If Manly don't sign him up long term, they would be stupid.

I don't like Hornby coming to us via assisting Bennett and Demetriou. Not one assistant of Bennett has done great things as the Head Coach taking over from Bennett- I might be wrong in saying that though as there is one person going great guns at the moment and that is Kristian Woolf of the Dolphins so maybe the "hoodoo" is changing?

Hornby I think does have a very good aptitude and potential to be a good head coach - putting aside that "after Bennett hoodoo". Now that I think about it, that hoodoo relates to assistant coaching at the club Bennett leaves rather than a club coached by another person like we have had in Flanagan and Young, so it won't be a succession, it will be a new Club. So forget that hoodoo and sign up Hornby quick smart. :ROFLMAO:

I think Cook has been good. I thought he was our best last year and 4th best, after the Couchman's and Stewart this year. Ironically he's the one not on huge money. But letting him go was the right decision. Same principle as letting JDB go. It was the right decision. I just can't believe they went and recruited Josh Kerr after letting JDB go.
