Recruitment & Retention 2027

I know this might be unpopular but i would love a winger like DWZ, does everything at 100 miles an hour, probably one of the best finishers of try's, has good speed, not afraid of collisions, can fill in at centre or fullback in an emergency, sure he has a mistake in him but who doesn't..
Imo Holmes could do something similar on the wing, especially with Drinkwater & Metcalf ball playing.

If we could throw money at a decent centre somewhere and also somehow coax lomax back the backline could look like
1. Drinkwater
2. Sami
3. Holmes
4. Import Centre
5. Lomax
6. Atkinson
7. Metcalf

that is substantially better/faster/smarter/stronger than what we suffer with now.

Hope S Club 17 are doing the business with TPAs for a bloody good centre.

This was an invite for a meeting held last year ... trying to drive the off field/business connections side of things to compete with other clubs in those areas . I dont know if the old brocos thoroughbreads is an equivalent but something like that.

Unsure to what level it has taken off but i believe the group includes some fairly influential high profiles sportsmen/politicians/business people.

This is awesome, use all the off-field connections to gain an advantage in the recruitment space.

Given our ladder position… have they misinterpreted something somewhere??

I had a look at Luke Metcalf face to face interview and some of his highlights and Yes he is fast for a half back and has skills no doubt. 43 NRL games 20 tries and good goal kicker has plenty of skill at 6 or 7, he played 6 next to Shaun Johnson.

The injuries since 2019 have been 2 x ACL a broken leg and hamstring injuries. So quite a few. Let's hope he does a Tedesco and thats the end to his injuries.

I see him as 7 next year but moving to 6 to allow Reed next to him and I think if injuries stay away this will be a great combo.

well ... if it came together late last year and since then we have added KK/Drinkwater/Metcalf/Sami/Maybe Watson for 12 months then perhaps they have interpreted it quite well.
Hopefully we get some more wins between now and February, Anasta was taking big stabs last night, that we needed to fix 'bigger issues' before we would have success again.. think thats rly unfair tbh, im not saying we're there yet.. but its almost going to be a clean slate with corporate and football dept and roster going into 2027.. they deserve to be judged on that.. not whats happened in the past.

Metcalf is 100% a gamble.. esp in this modern game.. with the pace and the hip drops and it seems like serious leg injuries are becoming super common... but he gets injured and Reed gets a game.. its not the end of the world.. as long as the rest of the squad is sort of working and pulling in the same direction..

I think he’s more alluding to the board

Ai it could be specifically the board... but we have no way to replace them.. and I think with the right coach, and if Creagh turns out to be rly good in his GM role.. we're leagues in front of where we were.... and I assume the TPA's are available now given the signings we have been making... so I think there is a chance the club can get to where it needs to go... regardless of who's on the board..

Essentially I don't think its fair for Anasta to keep taking his Ilias-based pot shots anymore, its almost a clean sweep in every other area of the club.

I really hope so. We’re looking promising Creagh and Anderson have been excellent appointments
