Round 17 v Raiders Sunday

Am i ever going to see a game where we dont self implode. We had that game several times and blew it. What a f&$king disgrace that we can just throw these games away we really are wooden spooners and deservedly so.
I thought you were going to give us a rendition of "Am I ever gonna see your face again" as a cover to The Angel's hit. Yes mistakes like the poor passes by Kyle Flanno for Savage to take the ball and score two converted tries, Tu not quick off the mark to get to a kick before Hudson Young touches down and then Starling scoring after a dropped catch by Sloan at the end. The other thing is our attack is lifeless and no excitement, the best one of course was Holmes's break to send Sloan in to score. We had so much possession in the Raiders red zone but could not capitalise because of a lack of speed in attack and no set plays. We could have shot out to a handy lead but even if we did we would still have blown it.

Currently on my African safari holiday. Watched the match this morning at 6am. A game we could have won. Unfortunately some decisions went against us once again.

Ahead 10 - 6 at oranges as a result of two good tries by Sloan and TU. Sloan such an enigma has the pace we so desperately need as seen by both his tries today.

The Raiders were poor in the first half and we had to improve to stay in the game. Alas we didn't, not for the full 80 mins.

Flanagan was poor today as was his halves partner Atkinson. That pairing lacks creativity and enterprise when in possession. The stats clearly back my views up, it shows 12 runs for a paltry 76m v Raiders halves, 18 runs 152m. It does make a difference.

An ideal example of our poor halves was that scrum early in the 2nd half in a good field position in their half and nearly in the middle of the park in an ideal position.

We won the scrum and played to the short side where it was 3 defenders against 2 attackers, seriously.? A clear lack of communication and confusion, which is not 1sts standard.

Then shortly after we number up in attack close to their line and Flanagan who to my eye is playing like he has been tapped on the shoulder throws a horrendous pass to Holmes who if it hits him in the chest scores, the end result a 95m try to their winger and that is when the momentum changed.

The 2nd intercept try that was clearly touched by Sasagi forward into Savage who scored. We just don't get those calls going our way this season or in fact the last few.

In saying that, another poor pass, to use that type of pass in a congested area is fraught with danger and we were once again punished.

That has been the difference for some years now our errors are punished the opposition errors are not. The last error gifted a try to Starling against a tired backline defence, 3 errors 3 tries.

Once again the positives were our young pack, how good are these youngsters going to be under a decent alpha prop in KK.

Standout's were Stewart, Couchman x 2, Egan. Toby Couchman ran for 178m he is consistently outstanding. But as a coach you know you are in trouble when a forward is running more metres than any of your backs.

Our 1 - 7 should be apologising to our pack every week because every week it is the same scenario with the engine room keeping us in the game and the backs failing to take advantage of that.

In my personal view Young has failed to improve our performances especially in attack and should not be given the head coaching role.

His decision making today especially around his timing and use of replacements was to my eye poor.

The lack of time given to Liddle and Leilua was puzzling to me and not even using young Halangahu well enough said.

Next week its the Tigers and Im tipping a Dragons win perhaps because im on holidays and so far away from reality.

Very disappointing two weeks in a row. If we are beaten by a quality team playing well, I can accept it without caring much. Not at this stage of the season and the possibility of us making the finals. But the last two weeks I thought we were the better team.

And I want to say, Deano hasn't improved this team one iota. About now, I can't even see how he is in contention for the job from next season.
Hold on tight matey because they will give it to him if it's the same people making the decisions .........

I'd try Feagai and Suli in the centres and Val fullback. Gutho looks like he can barely run.
Feagai is as slow and defensively bad as any in the 30. Piss him back to ressies. Dont mind Val at the back, quicker than Gutho. As there are no centres in lower grades bashing down the door, I'd prefer Nick T over F, at least he can tackle.

i actually think this game does us more harm than good with respect to Young.

Raiders game showed 100% how bad our halves were ... we are getting 60% of a new spine plus Sami who does all the good Sloan did but none of the bad next year fuels the argement that Young is the right bloke ... and it is a terrible arguement to see unfold.

but you can absolutely see that young fans would make it.

FUCKERS.

If they can use that justification, they'll use anything until finally saying something like, "I don't care what anyone else thinks."

I agree that it's a bad thing that... *checks notes*... the team mainly played well but were let down by players who will be replaced by far superior ones next year?

Its like our 6 and 7 have left the hand brake on, its slow motion with no desire and authority. Did the coach say just shovel it to the next guy you never know what could happen. .......... and grubber in to the in goal like other teams do, " i know you both are no good at weighting the kick, but we've got nothing else in our kitbag to use"

If Kade Reed is not returned to #7 round 20, then I am going outside of the box and promoting Eden Hodges from Flegg. Oh to be a coach. A desperate move but we need desperation to lift us off the cellar floor.
