If we only get 1 more win this season, please let it be this.

I hate Canterbury so much and this 2026 iteration of it is particularly distasteful. We haven't beaten them since 2022 - Andrew McCullough scored a try that day ffs. That's way way too long. It would be a sweet way to bookend a bleak, pitiful era for our club, and herald the beginning of a shining new era of success. Imagine the sheer joy of putting the final nail in the coffin of the Dogs' finals hopes, then imagine that it also doubles as a slamming shut of the mythical premiership window for this Gould-Ciraldo era… while at the same time hinting that the very same window may just be very realistically coming to into view for our club. I can imagine it! Wow.. it’s like a menage a trois with schadenfreude and pure joy (and me). Please let me have it

Plus I want revenge for Vegas.

As far as a "style match up" goes, there’s not a more suitable opponent for us. That is: A dour team who don’t know how to score points. If we do enough to get in front they won’t throw it around like the Tigers did. The Galvin-Preston short ball will be aimed at Lyhkan and Val’s edge so they need to be good, thankfully Hamish is there to help. I like us for this. We can do it

Yes, we can do it. The wins we have had will help our guys want to win more. Just got to shut down their usual dangerous players and off loads. Great defence will win it for us.

If Hamish outplays Preston, he might book himself selection in the Australian team.

  • Kerr in, Lawrie out. Personally I'd go with Blocka but maybe he'd prefer a game in Cup to sitting on the bench the whole game. Though I hope he gets one last game. Start him for Gular. Don't lose much even though Gular has saved his best for last. Maybe the form of the young forwards has lit a fuse under Gular.
  • Feagai was good last week. Which makes me nervous. So many times I've wrapped him and/or his brother only for them to put in shockers the following week.
  • I wonder if Luciano will get a last game as well.

I thought Guler was lucky to hold his spot, such a bad lack of effort in the middle on one of the tigers tries and it wasnt as if he had played long minutes.
Kerr is the one here next year so for that any game he plays under young could be a learning experience for him - play well, cut out the penalties, put in the effort.
