Back our juniors. I saw a comment a few days ago, the outside backs are looking like the forwards from 2 years ago. I know others know better than me but:

  • Saifiti
  • Pupualii
Who else? That fullback from Illawarra Sports high and Rokko Walker are I think a year younger than Burton.

Seeing IsaacIssa reporting that bears are interested in Muhleisen but we are also keen to keep him

My only question is why? He’s not NRL quality prior to the ACL and now after the sympathy contract he got he might chew up a top 30 spot next year?

I’m not anti or pro St George OR Illawarra I couldn’t be more neutral in this case

It does feel like to me theirs always been a slight favoritism towards the Illawarra juniors in terms of priority and treatment etc and the St George side gets neglected

Shaun Timmins the most one eyed person and the opposite of what a joint venture club needs to be successful. Also can’t coach, thankfully he’s got the heave ho

Given the COE and number of juniors is heavily tilted in favour of Wollongong there is no surprise ..

However, the last successful junior team we had was the St George Ball squad from a few years back ... there are still 8 of that team floating around the club from Top 30 down to Flegg.

It does feel though that the Steelers side is about local juniors and the St George side about the players we import into the JV as juniors living/schooling in Sydney and playing for the Dragons.

We've been in talks with him but not a fulltime deal so I think he'll go elsewhere.

We absolutely need a 3rd hooker.. at a bare minimum.... even then its only 1 injury to the starting 9 (liddle) or 14 (watson), and instantly Connor is into the 17.... imo noone should be running 80mins unless a mid-game situation arises.. certainly not for an extended period.... we will also imo rly miss Cookie.. hes been so consistent.

And if we cop 2 injuries.. well hollleeee....... doesnt have to be Muheleissen though.. someone on here I think said his service is excellent and its made a big difference to cup when he returned? But yeah hes a great kid and a very proud dragons man.. but i dont rly see him as a longterm 1st grader.. but could be wrong but Im not too flustered either way.. whatever goes down..

Note: Still some mystery over whether Kyle stays or the selling of the house = he is going.. lets hope for the latter as I dont rly want to rely on him for hooker depth.. id rather Muhleissen tbh... although Kyle is technically versatile, but I'd rather a real hooker be our backup hooker.... and a young 5/8 be our back up 5/8.. Kyle is sort of 2 slow to do either job well.

I believe there are around 3 times as many juniors playing rugby league in the Illawarra compared to the St George district. You would certainly hope there is no favouritism and to be a successful sporting organisation we need to be promote on merit and nothing else. Understandable if those numbers are correct that the St George pathway is the one used to house the imports. We are very lucky to have both pathways and it now seems like we are starting to use them to our advantage.

The links that the panthers have built between the club and the local juniors and schools is exceptional and hopefully we’re on the same path.

I wonder if they are planning on O'Neill being the 3rd hooker?
