GF: Roosters v Knights

Change of subject here lads, I find it interesting that for many years we complained about not having a COE, and attributed that to our poor performances over the years. Ironic that when we finally get a COE we come last.

Oh btw I hate the Roosters, always have and always will, especially that ungracious pumpkin head Robinson who never says a good word about his opposition, even when they lose. I really hope we pump these guys next Anzac day, i really do !!!
I think all of us on the forum dislike the Roosters and other clubs as well. My most is the Bulldogs.
Yes very ironic that we now have a COE and a great one at that and yet we win the spoon.
If we can manage to win a majority of our games leading up to Anzac Day, I will be confident of us beating the Roosters. They will still have Walker who loves playing against us and I think Garrick likes to get one over us but with our new signings, they will help us win on the day.

I hate all 3 most. Nowadays probably Roosters and Dogs more than Cronulla because Cronulla are like a sick rodent. Roosters and Dogs are formidable. I know Cronulla have made the finals a number of times but off the field, financially speaking, they are a mess. A money losing machine and have no COE and a homeground which is like a potato patch.

One more thing I'd say about the Roosters. They are also paying Dom Young part of his salary this year and next. So this year they were paying part of the salary of Dom Young, Brandon Smith and Tyrell May, yet still have a star-studded team! They are 'managed' very well indeed. No other club can dream of 'managing' that.

Blasphemy! Diseased rodents have always been far more harmful than any predator.

We liberate the Shire, Rorters and Grubs won't be able to match us consistently in the long-term. Only Penrith and teams outside of Sydney will. Rorters will still be able to "buy" a premiership from time to time but with their lack of support and juniors, their long-term success is doubtful.

Dragons won't get and don't want Shonkies supporters for at least a generation but if their juniors want a game and a pathway to the NRL, they'd better come under the St. George umbrella.

I'm glad you said managed Morgs, I can think of another word, but nevertheless they are the premiers. I can just imagine what they will come up with when they lose 5-6 players out of their squad.

Weren't we saying this kind of thing in 1999?
I hate Scumnulla as much as the next man, but they've made the eight every year since 2012, with the exception of 2014 and 2019. Whereas we...

True. Believing in the Shonkies demise has become a religion for some of us. It only works if you believe in it.

They sold off their assets apart from the home-ground which is clearly not suitable for the NRL circa 2027. Is the leagues club still undergoing renovation? How many years and how much over-budget was that? For all those years they have been up around the top, they have only one scandal tainted premiership to show for it and it very much looks like their current premiership window has slammed shut.

I don't think they have much of a future but maybe it's just because I believe in it.

They will hang around for a while yet. Though no COE and THAT homeground should see them become a much less desirable destination for potential new recruits.

All the Super League scum will survive for a long time. Newcastle fall under this umbrella too, as they are owned & administrated by West's Leagues who are the mob behind the Hunter Mariners and tossed out the portrait of their former captain-coach, Johnny Raper, when he dared speak out against the SL raid.
The Roosters are the exception that proves the rule. And Souths, cos they are owned by smug fat-cats who have successfully re-cast them as "the Pride of the League".

Herbie Farnworth is as good as done if the media is to be believed. They don't have to worry about the rules in regard to approaching guys before November 1st either.

Usually when a team wins a GF they lose a few players, as the Roosters are doing, but they can't afford to recruit any guys in high demand because they have to upgrade the guys already on the books. As has happened to Penrith non-stop over the last few years and is happening to the Broncos now (though I know that might be because the squad in general can't stand McGuire). Though somehow it doesn't apply to the Roosters.

Actually, the thing that took the joy out of watching rugby league for me was not the SL War, or the stupid rule changes that have enshittified the game, or the endless contract headlines, or the wannabe-Jerry Maguire player agents, or a procession of CEOs and board members flushing our club down the shitter was the Scum winning the comp in 2016.

It was very disappointing. But just remember, we can't complain because 'they were salary cap compliant on grand final day'. Getting to the grand final not salary cap compliant was irrelevant.

Isn’t it amazing that all those rules that stuff the game during the home and away rounds go out the window during finals. That is because the NRL want it to be a good spectacle. Got to have those ratings !!!

Sorry if this makes anyone angry but I can't resist saying it.

Roosters didn't let Spencer Leniu go because he wasn't any good. They are doing it because their props are White and Collins. They couldn't justify spending so much on a front rower who only played around 30 minutes a game. He was only playing 30 minutes a game because even though he's in the top 10 props in the comp, he's the Roosters 3rd best prop.

What this all means is I'm not sure how long May was signed for originally before they told him to go but even if they aren't paying him any longer, they will still be paying part of Leniu's salary for next year at least.
