Other Clubs in 2026

Walker will sign with the roosters, seems to me both sides playing games..
Seems pretty final unless one party swallows his pride or their pride and begs. I know the Rorters front office won't do that so I should say, unless Walker begs to take the deal he rejected. Can't see that happening either.

I don't know near as much as a lot of others about young players, specially at other clubs but I know as Mailroomsgi Mailroomsgi stated above, Carter Marketo and Toby Rodwell have had a lot of experts saying good things for a while. Obviously the Rorters wanted to keep Walker but I think they didn't want to lose both of Marketo and Rodwell which is why they wouldn't offer Walker as much as he could get elsewhere. A bit like us with Charlie Heidke. Want to sign a long term centre partner for Ollie Burton but is it worth throwing overs at one when we have a possibility like Heidke? It's a hard one. I guess I'll go with whatever Dan Anderson and Deano decide.

I still dont believe the rorters are remotely thinking Rodwell (let alone Marketo) are their starting 7's in the next few years.. esp when they were ruthless enough to sign DCE over the top of Savala.. who I think is who they rly intend to back.. unless.. they rly are trying to get Dearden... that seems more realistic..

Rodwell is about as developed as Kade Reed is in comparison.. still a few years from being an every week first grader.

As for us, we cant rely on Heidke.. he has barely played a solid patch since 2024 perhaps.. he's gotta deliver something first then I reckon we will be happy to sign him.. if were talking Bostock, we can definitely find a spot for him as a winger or ctr.. the gamble is in 2-3yrs time, if some of our kids come on, were gonna have salary cap strife to keep them.. but this is really a problem you want to be having.

Cooper Bai set to sign with Storm
He signed last pre-season when the Titans Hannay-love-in was happening.. same as Tino and um I think Campbell.. thats why I wanted to get a fresh coach for 2027 so we had a free pass into recruitment and retention.. but in the end we got a free pass anyway based on Andersons recruitment basically.. we're running on virtual currency atm.. we have to back it up on the field if we want to keep the momentum going into future years.

I still remember the time Melbourne were giving the Dragons a bit of flogging but not too bad. Not like 50-0 or anything like that though it ended up close to that. Anyway, NAS got the ball on the charge, close to the Dragons line and Jack Bird simply stepped out of the way. I understand even if he pulled off an almighty shot, NAS was still likely to fall over the line but to just step out of the way and then not get dropped for the following game.......

On the other hand, we have a Sharks legend. Had some issues with gouging at stitches early in his career, PEDs a bit later and his team being over the cap but that's what they call a 'par for the course' for a Sharks legend. It also made me want to throw something hard through a TV screen the way he used to take 2 or 3 hit ups every set for NSW.

So that being said, I hope NAS knocks him out first round.

Manly tryna offload Fogarty so they can sign Sam Walker

Be interesting to see how Walker goes behind a much worse pack than the one he has at the chooks

Also interested if it happens to see what Onitoni Large/Joey Walsh do as a consequence

They are going all in with their club juniors. Interesting in any event but especially because their junior base is one of the smallest.

Most of the good guys they’ve had come through the pathways that are still in thr team now are Scott Fulton buys

Koula/Haumole/Fainu Bro’s/Garrick (Illawarra boy)

All outside their catchment

Hey Morgan
You got your wish. Some brutal hits to the head of Gallen and he was down for the count - well he wasn't counted out, the bout was stopped in the first round. Gallen no where near capable and he should lay off boxing from now on - his brain will go all cuckoo one day.

Did someone bring this match up earlier on the thread or have you just put your post on it because there was no other thread for it or maybe you thought that this thread was ok seeing it involves Other Clubs?

I think the one they might be worried about it is Faulalo.. guy has been an absolute game-changer when he plays.. still bit cranky we didnt sign him years ago, we had nothing bar a sloan extension.. this kid was 4 deep @ manly.. and he still extended with them.. not sure how seriously we went after him... turns out hes a gun 1-6.

Even though I think we will be greatly improved , I still want to see how we click in the first 5-6 rounds.
For sure. We are still short at least one high quality centre, two is Val can't dramatically pull his socks up, and one high quality winger. But to copy what someone else stated a while ago, the situation with outside backs at the club now seems like it was with the forwards a few years ago. I have high opinion of Burton, Heidke, Rumble, two of who I hope might prove to be ready for NRL next year. A couple more just a bit younger than Heidke and Rumble for 2028.

And I think Drinkwater in particular is going to set up a lot of tries. Metcalf will move the team around very well and Nikorima will do a bit of both.

As for the other clubs:
  • Parramatta have Moses and Paulo well past their best and who else? Should've taken JDB up on the clubs option for another year.
  • I don't really have any idea about Gold Coast other than Fa'asuamaleaui who from the World Cup games I've watched, doesn't look like a shadow of the player he was a few years ago.
  • Canberra have a young team. They'll probably be good in 2 or 3 years.
  • Manly have Koula, Olakau'atu, Jake and Tom Trbojevic well past their best even if Tom can stay fit most of the season but who else? They'll need that 5/8 Walsh to justify the hype and then some.
That's the way I see it anyway.
