NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg, 2025

Doueihi has so much versatility in his armour. He has a lot of natural talent and besides being able to play in multiple positions, he is prepared to take risks on the field which generally end up with favourable results. He has strength and speed and can tackle and tall enough to catch the high balls - a great height for a halfback. Have I stated the obvious and am I giving him too many wraps? When I saw him play for Souths I thought he had loads of talent. He wasn't afraid to take on Kikau today and stop him a few times with copybook tackles.

Yes we need to offer him a 3-4 year deal of $500K-$600K per year. He is worth it.

Prior to today I think we could have gotten away with the 2yr 400k Douiehi deal.. but dont think itll get us there anymore, 450-500k minimum.. the problem is as a 6 or 7 hes worth far more, but as a 13 that we supposedly want him for.. diff story.. maybe we can come up with a flexible contract.. but I wouldnt want Douiehi whinging about his position for 2yrs either..

Also depends how much he wants to stay @ the Tigers.. but surely LFainu and Luai r their halves..

Their treatment of Latu Fainu is bizarre, he’s an absolute superstar in waiting

If there’s any inkling of him wanting out I’d jump at the chance to sign him

IMO Douehi will extend with the tigs, he’s a real clubman and I think if they match the years we offer he’ll stay

  • A good draw last weekend. Should surely be enough to see this team retain second place on the ladder.
  • What is #3 doing in the centres?
  • Is that a demotion for #17? Been a long season for a 19 year-old prop. Is he still 19?
  • Disappointed to see #4 drop back from Cup. He's not ready for NRL yet but seemed to be doing fine in NSW Cup. God knows we need him or Jesse Williams to make the step to NRL ASAP.
  • Good to see #10 back. Would be even better to see him back in Cup.

Looks like the Jersey Flegg game didnt get replayed on monday? Assume its a draw, either way if its Top 5, the flegg team has no way to make finals.

Looking at the current Flegg team though, there isnt really anyone left in it that could/should be promoted this year (bar Reed), the rest would only be through further injuries to the top grade(s).... guys like Hutchinson and Lyric.. maybe Rubie in a pinch... but even Reed really, I think he would handle things ok.... but where does he fit when Ilias/Glover r fit.

I hope at least if second spot on the ladder is secured a week or two before the finals, a couple more from Flegg get a chance in Cup. Like Reed, of course but also Hutchinson, Lyric, maybe Hammoud and Matt Alhazim.

Lawson takes precedence I guess. Willie Talau knows what he is doing. I am ok for Lyric not to be fast tracked to be honest, keep him tearing em up in Flegg, been about our best back alongside Reed in '25. A season, maybe two, of building his body and honing his skills in Cup next year, then reckon he'll be NRL ready. Dont rush class. Like to see the same done with Jesse. Firstly, Lyric needs upgrading as other clubs can see his promise too.

Muddy and some rain @ Collegians for Flegg, conditions look exhausting... but perhaps Kogarah will drain better and it wont necessarily be an overly wet game later..

Bit anticlimactic without a lot of our U21 stars today, everybody is up a grade due to the injury situation (apart from Reed).. we've nearly scored a few tries.. lyric dropped 1 pass that was close to the line.. another was held up over the line.. I thought TPH scored 1 in a combination of skill and luck, but the ref took it off him.. still not sure why (hate the lack of bunker in moments like that)... finally we just went in then, massive long ball over the top from Reed to Rumble... 4-10 at half time.

We've been alright.. but the Raiders are handling us pretty well.. seem bigger and strong across the paddock.. I guess their 1st grade squad is intact so their lower grades are also..

Some enterprising dry weather play by the boys almost gave us two, first some clever work by Lyric, but disallowed, then Isaac acrobatically grounds a neat Kyan grubber to get us back into it. Missed the next try then Kade like a thief in the nite intercepts and races 80m. What a turn round since oranges.
