Round 23 vs Cronulla Sharks

That was the last of our long losing runs also.. so great for Flanno to clear the ledger.. would still like to beat the Roosters in 2026 mind you, you can see how dangerous they are in that win over the Dolphins.. so much skill, power and speed in that roster.
Your correct but I would really like to meet their accountant especially at tax return time

I loved the win but watching closely in the last plays that the scum had. Twice I watched Sloan race in to shut down the play, he slipped over once and missed everything the other time. Surely he is being told to do this as I really would have hoped he learnt his lesson from the dogs game.
Saw that and just cannot fathom either decisions. He is one of those players unfortunately that just can't read the game defensively hence his move to the wing to try and keep him on the park

100% JO but those plays are what is going to get him sacked, it really looks like he's been told to do it. I would imagine he copped a roasting off Flanno after the Dogs game.

If you read my posts from a few days ago, I highlighted the fact that we needed to repeat last week's 83% completion rate well someone must be reading my post because this week at oranges we were at 95%, one set short of a perfect half of possession football.

In the end 88% completion rate v 63% for the Sharks. Last week 83% v Raiders 64%. So as you correctly highlighted we are putting pressure on the opposition and they are making mistakes.

I always told my troops before a game have a healthy respect for your opponents but don't make unforced errors and gift them field position. Stick to our training structures and we are always a 50% chance of winning.

I'm now going out to Thai with a couple of bottles of wine and celebrate .
Enjoy Jo. Ive just come back from having some very yummy Caribbean food at Surry Hills with the family celebrating one of my sons 33rd birthday and of course celebrating our fantastic win of the year (well only because it was the Sharks who we have not beaten in a very long while). Just a fantastic effort all round. Maybe Sloan made things uneasy at times for us but overall, all of the players did their utmost best as a team. I congratulate them and the coaches on the win and also enabling us fans to have a couple of weekends in a row to be grinners for a change.

Well done mate , a Family Birthday , a full tummy , and a great Dragons win ......... Enjoy ..........

The guys a smart player , what he lacks in speed is made up between the ears .........
As I said earlier this year it takes time in 1st to gain the necessary experience and reach the necessary levels to play 1sts. He is young and many times I have mentioned that to my eye he is developing nicely.

It is not only the job of the coaches but the players themselves to identify their strengths and weaknesses and reach a balance. At the moment he is suspect in defence and lacks speed but both can be improved with the necessary training.

At this time he's a keeper

Ok I'll put this out there and please dont crucify me, I was very happy with the win, I was happy with Buchanan's and JH's debut, my question is will Buchanan's size affect him moving forward into the NRL. I know he played well yesterday. took some big hits, tackled hard. But not being a big guy could he handle week in week out big men running at him ? thats my question, I also wish all the best for the kid no matter what he does.

It's up to the individual , toughness of the player , being small shouldn't matter ....... over the years and when I was playing some of the smaller guys would give as good as they got ......

Buchanan's body and height may not be as big as many of the edge players but his heart and head are big in my eyes Justa. Physically he doesn't back away from tackling - he loves that job is what I can see of him. He would get pushed back a fair bit when trying to take the ball up and he would be pushed away by those bigger guys but he is in the fight for most of the game.

Yesterday he did the job for us and will most probably go back to the Cup for our next game against the Warriors - thinking that Allan will move into the centres to replace Suli and Matt Feagai returning on the wing on Friday.

Moving forward it is hard to say where Buchanan will eventually end up playing. Holmes and Suli will be the two centres next year and Buchanan would probably come into calculations if either of those two get injured again. Long term, as a local junior, I hope he eventually plays first grade full time.

What Flanno now has and of course the Dragons is the ability to be using a bunch of guys that now have had a good taste of first grade. These same guys will be part of the training drills most times and their development will be far improved in the next year.

The Dragons I feel are now in a great position with the good blending of some older experienced guys with the young ones. Just remember, we have a lot of guys just chomping on the bit to come back next year and they will enhance our chances of winning many games in a row which I would think will be the aim for sure next year. Winning many games in a row will be the cornerstone for a strong year by the Dragons starting with a thrilling win against our arch enemy Bulldogs in Vegas.

Agree mate, but looking at todays game the backs are expected to bring the ball back off their line, we all used to say about players like Sloan and Ramsay getting ragdolled around, you saw the difference between someone like Suli bringing the ball back against Sloan or even Allen.

If you have one or two of those small players and don't use them for hit ups ........

I don't believe that he could play at this stage of his development week in week out . In saying that it's easier for backs to adjust to the rigours of 1sts than forwards in my experience.
