I believe that there is a sound reasoning behind this current contract. I'd expect that the young fella will be tested in ressies sometime this coming season. I could be wrong im not privy to the internal goings on. Just my views based on personal experiences.

I'm really hoping that we can be more like the Panthers RVH and grow from within and not rely too much from external sources. And I would like that to happen for the rest of our future not just here and there. Looks like we have invested heavily into our juniors this year and we really need to make it count in our favor and not just be a supply chain for others to feed off.

Talking up a new recruit who will have a year to prove his ability. While Reed continues to develop. Then the following year they'll compete for the position. Or one will be half and the other 5/8.

we are a funny bunch of supporters ... we are so skittish when we actually look to be trying to build depth in positions, we cannot seem to grasp it.

If we buy another half we are not nessesarily blocking Reed, we are taking care of ourselves and creating depth/competition for places strenghtening the entire club.

If Reed is good enough he will demand selection in a starting spot, if the other bloke who could potentially come in is better then bully for us we are a stronger team.

We have been shit for so long having depth scares us.

Of course this is predicated on actual respect by staff for performance and depth at the selection table.

With the right people in the right positions we need to trust the process.
It might not always go to plan and may take longer than fans want, but that's the price to get it right.

2026 Major signings we missed.
2027 Major signing done, we have our next target a back.
Try to get a release for 27 signings
2026 targets identified, if we miss them Ando will more than likely promote from within for a year rather than sign others on a multi year contract

Makes a lot of sense ... must be a tough gig at times esp when negotiation with multiple people in the same position ...
You might get to a point where you can secure your 3rd choice but choices 1 and 2 havent made a decision - what do you do there ...

Timing, negotations .. such a complex thing.

And boy hasn't the process changed for the better. We are now investing in our juniors. Buying and chasing quality players. It wasn't that long ago we would buy any old geriatric looking to finish his career mostly broncos and absolutely no interest in our young talent. I'm excited but let be patient. I have a lot of faith in this new management

Yep 100%. We need to have the right people at the right steps in the process imo. Juniors and coe stuff was initiated in the 'previous' admin. Some of those people have left & now we've got the right people for the next step in the process.

Recognition will be given to Watsford & co which they've deserved but it started before them which needs to be acknowledged too imo.

I'm bullish about our future.

Quick question on this post ...
When you said "2026 major signings we missed" and then "2026 targets identified" ... are the dolphin/titan in the former or later?

Assume we were after some big names for 2026 but are re-assessing now and chasing decent but not top shelf players to complete the 2026 roster?

The guy in the video is playing 5/8. That indicates to me, he could be a 5/8, or fullback or even a centre in League. He must have a good kicking game to be playing 5/8.
