A few others to watch

Kruz Efarimo has speed to burn, not the complete package but watch him light up in space.

Hunter Fangupo is a unit expect him to rip in.

Jake Swan on the bench a year younger and a big future, very much a Hamish style. May force his way into 13 during the season
Strange having Darcy FARQUHAR on the bench isn’t it? I thought he had the most potential out of the wingers

I for sure would of had him starting, I don’t know much about kruz efarimo, but ik PJ Sager had a decent Andrew John’s cup season last season

I've only ever seen Darcy play in the spine.

Colin Saukuru ... ex player with us from the dark ages ... perhaps i am too old.
When Colin was playing prop for us, I remember the commentators calling him Saukuru the Guru. He would have defenders bouncing off him.

In year 11 I played union for the school with Colin and in year 12 played league with him for the school. Col was a year below me. We lost the grand final both years, to the same school. There was no league in year 11, that why we played union. I don't think any of our team had ever played union before that. After Col left St George, I am pretty sure he went and played union for a New Zealand team. Col also has a brother named Joey who was playing junior reps for Manly and was playing against Anthony Mundine. I remember asking Joey if Mundine was really good, as I had heard about him. He said Mundine was was good and playing centre for our junior rep team, I think it was Harold Mathews. He also said we had another centre who was better than Mundine, I think his last name was Roberts, who never made the grade.

Gonna go hit the yardwork with a beer or 2, as saturday is going to be a complete write-off in terms of productivity...

Gonna be hard going too.. the good thing about knowing all the faces and body types is u can pick em without needing to look up the team sheet.. but this year with all the new faces... you have to keep looking em up its a pita.. but BarTV says it has a commentator for every game now, so that can save the lookup.. it also updated yesterday to include both SG Ball games, so everything is covered live.
It is a challenge when you don’t recognize the players. I print out the team sheet but if BarTV is going to commentate on every match that is way better. Looking forward to watching as much as I can today!

This looks like the thread for match day stuff, I watch games in a web browser on 2 monitors and so can kind of keep the game and nswrl pages up too.. gotta make sure you stay live though or you might accidentally refresh and catch the score...

Dragons HM Notes (10-24 Loss):

First-Half:

  • Lot of new faces, the most well known are Rokko Walker @6, Seluki Halangahu @13
  • Little bit clunky after some early possession, ground is very hard/bouncy and the halfback Rapp has found the ground with a few good kicks.. been unlucky to let in a try after #2 Hammoud went down injured and gone off with what I thought was a lower leg injury, but might be a concussion.. I think we had the raider into touch anyway.. but linesman was right there and said it was fine.. millimetres in it.
  • Seluki Hammoud is the captain this year, I commented on his body shape last year, he is really filled out since then.. a much thicker torso now (note: on report for a crusher)
  • Raiders are just running harder than us across the park, man for man seem stronger runners.. plus got their back up from the early try... as I say that we finally got some ball.. were a more leaner better stepping team but we need space to use it.. Rokko Walker broke a tackle and has thrown a forward pass that would have been a try.. actually the 2nd time hes almost had a try assist.. the first one bounced thru the wingers hands.. hes def a handful, still not sure hes a #6 but maybe he just needs time there.
  • Sione Maameivai the #10 has been decent also, lot of early work..
  • After about 23 errors from both sides, we eventually managed to spread it and send Lambert over who is filling in @ctr.. lot of our attack comes off Rokko's speed.. when he runs across field it creates gaps if we can take advantage.. score is 4-18 and its half-time, hard watch so far.
Second-Half:
  • Refs been good to us in 2nd half, off the back of some penalties, Halangahu just monstered them with a short run to the line.. lot of his brother in him.. 10-18 down.
  • Game got called off for at least 20mins in 2nd half while Ambulance had to come in and access was 'via' the playing field... we were on top too... assume its for Hammoud who went off early in the 1st half, maybe it was a bad concussion or something, looks like a neck brace.. either way very not cool for the kid, can only imagine it was bad to warrant this level of concern.. esp as he went off escorted standing up by 2 trainers.
  • Unfortunately the raiders scored next and their fullback is 4/4 from the sidelines, what a tu*d... another guy ill mention is #16 George Kupu, massive forward.. def got the size.. size isnt everything ofcourse.. but will be one to watch this season. 10-24.
  • Riley Brown the #9 has been good in defence also.. rly trying to force errors.. i like that.. havent seen enough to judge him overall though.
  • Even though I rly like the #6 Walker and #7 Rapp, overall we're not playing smart.. pushing passes and errors.. everything feels very random.. whereas the raiders push thru the middle and spread it appropriately.. and they r strong too.. omg as I write this another rokko pass called forward touch and go denied try.. fark me.. Rokko has all the skill in the world.. hes probably a fullback or a ctr/winger at some point, buit again maybe just time, he is creating every opportunity for us with his speed from 6.. its just the pass selection/execution.
  • Must say its hard at times watching the split U17/U19 grades.. just cant imagine what we look like if you could inject a Rokko Walker and Halangahu with Ollie and Chapman and co.. but.. in theory it should pay dividends when the sides combine in U21's.. in theory. Note that in the last minute Rapp has done a shoulder injury saving a try.. hopefully hes milking it.. and is ok for next week, he stayed on.

Note the SG Ball coming seems to come and go from the list, but it should be here, but delayed due to the ambulance earlier.

I was impressed with Rokko Walker. That is really the first time I’ve seen him play for any length of time. I know there were a couple of wayward passes but he’s got a good step, speed, passing game and it seems he can tackle. Halangahu and Riley Brown also stood out for me.

We held our own in the 2nd half, 1 try a piece, so that's a positive, but we were never going to win that game

I agree. I saw him look to try second phase play in traffic, smart if you wait till you have broken the line big fellar. Walker lively but needs to pick correct time to pass as you said a couple forward and others line ball while Saints jr Rapp has potential. Will take time for he and Walker to gel as a combo. Luc looks so much like big bro Jake as clear to see he has bulked up since last season. Hits hard in defense too. Whats the full backs name, looks flashy.

Roko Walker? I think he was that before now.
Nope - Sakuru in sg ball

Also

18-0 up them on a sin bin warning and we get a penalty … we took the 2 … bad call

With that position and dominance we were a good chance at a try and or a sin bin … instead we take 2 give them a break and now with the 2nd try not converted the 2 points we took loses its meaning
