Junior Reps 2026

What's happening today? Just about every game for some unknown reason we allow the opposition to score back to back tries within a couple of minutes.

How good does Creighton Meafou look aye rev, think him, Phillips and Andrews have been the pick of our players so far
Yah ive got Creighton featuring in my notes.. he was sort of wirey last year but now his thickened right up (head to toe).. I mean he looks every bit an athletic and dominant 2nd rower.. so good in the air too.. not happy about no McLaren and Timmins though.. thats 2 of our best players gone.. no idea how long those injuries are.

Steelers SG Ball:

First Half:

  • Commentator said Timmins has done a hamstring during the week.. that sux, he was rly strong last year, can only imagine him 12 months on.. lets hope its a minor one cause its only a short season.
  • Second year for some of these forwards.. will be out best chance of having any success (missing a lot of our talent from last year, guys like Reed, Heidke, Kirk, Fitzy, DMeafou etc), Mason Andrews the #13 looks very strong.. the new guy #24 Whatman is a very big thiccc bro (looks like one of those south african rugby props), be interesting to watch his progress.
  • New halfback Butler I havent seen before.. dont recall him in HM.. been good so far made his tackles, good touch finders.. I think Marley McLaren is meant to be our SG Ball #7 @19yrs of age, not sure whats gone on there, he was a big prospect..
  • Mason Andrews take a bow bro.. close to the line burrows under the defence on the ground almost and scores next to the sticks.. 6-0 up... this guy was rly strong last year but he is rly at home this year... reminds me of Daniel Meafou @ lock before his injuries.. good size, hard to stop.. fairly mobile.
  • Creighton Meafou looks like hes thickened up over the off-season, one of our absolute top prospects.. he now looks like he has a proper 2nd rowers body whereas before he could maybe have been a centre he was a little wirey..
  • Forwards been so good then Weatherall drops the ball.. he has got to start stepping up.. led to a set on our line which we defended brilliantly until Archie Wheeler sprints full pelt out of the line on the last tackle to hand souths an easy try.. wow. 6-6...
  • They marched 70m to score another try on the last.. uncool.. 6-12 down
  • Had a set on their line and Weatherall has knocked it on again... man this kid, must say its awesome having CMeafou to take the high balls / dropouts though, hes rly tall...
  • CMeafou slaps the ball out to save a try.. a penalty and we get to attack again, the #14 O'Mara with a scheming back and forth dummy half run then the actual hooker in Phillips grabs it at dummy half and was too good and scoops and runs and scores.. def havent been the better team, but 12-12 is pretty good score for us at this stage.

Maclaren broke his leg like mid to late last year if I’m not mistaken

Think even if he’s fit it could be a while before he’s playing at a high level

Gee that young lock is catching my eye, Mason Andrews, he knows his way to the try line, positios himself well. Can't believe it but this is a good decent game of football and the lads are actually now in front, Souths look a bit shocked.

I'm still trying to work out why we were pulled up at the other end, thought we scored cleanly.. souths keep punishing us for our errors.. but yes another dud moment for weatherall, has had a couple of decent runs, but its not enough.. esp in his final year in SG Ball... he should be the man out there.

I found the pressure of expectations caught up with a lot of young players. Be interesting to see how reacts to his awful mistake in that try

I said it last year and one of the manly scouts who I speak to regularly said it too. He looked great in Matt’s against young kids because he was just the bigger faster stronger guy then.

Now everyone’s caught up or gone past him he can’t rely on sheer athleticism anymore

Overall I thought the team performance was great today, just don’t have the talent right across the park like previous years to go toe to toe with the best sides for 70 mins

They need much more from their 1/6/7 if they are going to achieve results consistently

Andrews/Phillips/Meafou the best of the lot and my 3/2/1

Second Half:
  • Souths have some very dangerous outside backs.. but we've managed to contain them so far.. and gotten our own back through Archie Wheeler who has made up for his defensive error earlier with an individual try, just beats his man 1on1 and manages to reach and out and get it into the corner.. 16-12 up.
  • And off the kick off Brown knocks on in the play the ball.. I didn't see the error at all.. but off the back of that the same bloke that Archie just beat, beat him right back again and scored again in the corner, down 16-18... 2-1 against Archie.
  • Andrews you legend.. nothing doing just gets handed a ball and uses footwork to change direction and easily score next to the posts.. easily.. feel like souths are dominant yet were in front 22-18.
  • Had a chance to score under the post after a souths knock on, but they've ruled it as knock-on to us first some how.. and of course souths go on to score.. forward sort of running at the back of a retreating weatherall with his back to the opposition....and we just couldn't stop him scoring under the post.. 22-24 bout 7mins or so to go.
  • Ah man couple of 6-agains given against us to march souths up the field.. we defended well btu last tackle yet again.. they grubber thru and it just stays in play by millimetres for souths to score.. they actually miss the goal-kick which means we had a last minute chance to win.. we almost did after CMeafou catches the kick off.. but.. just not quite good enough.. and I do think souths were the better team. 22-28 Loss but one we did let get away at the same time.
