Unless halangahu has his eyes set on PNG to set his family up for life, I can’t see why we would let him go unless we want too. I can’t really see why he wouldn’t want to leave either to be fair, obviously to win, but that will come with the additions next year

His bro is with us too, massive family. I think like 7 siblings. We've also made him nsw cup captain a few weeks ago, I think a few of the younger players just need a cuddle.

Hard to begrudge a young guy who felt like they weren’t given much opportunity to leave a club that is 0-9. Just don’t air it on socials

Im sure there are reasons why. Perhaps hes just not ready this year yet, maybe hes not as dynamic as a modern day back rower is, i think egan probably provides better value at backrow than Halangahu does, but I would love to keep him around as a prop. Perhaps with a new coach coming they can get in his ear.

Err I didnt read that "the Luke's", surely we arent buying both of them (Metcalf/Hanson)... with Atko and LKT on the books.. Warriors obviously have other young halves coming thru also.
Probably 1 or the other.. but not sure Hanson is the 7 were after.. we want a big name 7 > anything else.

It will be hard to recruit big name players without a coach imo. Especially when our team is performing horribly. I'm sure a few sydney sides are keeping an eye on Metcalf.

I'd rather miss Metcalf vs rush a Young extension through just to sign him... I do feel like being the 4th quality player to sign for 2027 should feel alright for a much improved year for us... agree that the coach is the piece that could put that jigsaw together.
But obviously whoever the coach is its still gonna be tough going here.. esp after the ride the warriors have been on.. whichever 7 we sign will earn their coin.

I defs don't want dean young as head coach. Yep. If we can nail another good signing then our performance should improve considerably. More I think about it, nailing a gun centre is nearly as important.

No. Need to back Reed. Simple as that. You put Metcalf in our backline and he'd struggle badly. Nothing against Metcalf. It's just he's going to want a long-term deal unless he comes on a one year loan before going to PNG. Judging by last game, not sure Metcalf's defence is any better than Reed's. For a halfback, often marking up against Ponga, Reeds defensive stats were quite good.
I can see this thing with Metcalf being similar to the Gutherson situation. I was coping it from almost everyone, in the main board and in PMs about my opposition to signing Gutherson. Now where are all these gurus telling what an idiot I am?

Gutho goes okay though I said early last week, centre is definitely not his position. Dragons coaches sometimes come across as being so stupid. Anyway, the problem is:
1. The game has sped up so much. Now he is too slow to be a fullback.
2. He was being asked by Flanno to be the main playmaker and fullback to cover up for the halves at the time lack of playmaking ability.
3. Might be able to get away with a slowish fullback if the wingers were very fast. But most of the time Gutho has had CT and Feagai as wingers. I'm not saying those 2 are very bad but they are slow for wingers.
As for Metcalf, it's a hard one. It'll be a bitter pill for Reed to swallow if Metcalf is signed for 3 years let alone longer. It will inspire him to pack his bags and wouldn't surprise me if it comes back to bite the Dragons badly.

I'm not saying for one instant that Metcalf will be at the Dragons, because I dont think we get him anyway but maybe a Metcalf/Reed combination might work. We need an experienced 7 or 6 to work with Reed and take some pressure off him in games. These are just my thoughts.
