Normally agree with a lot of things , but not this one ....... Have said before need someone completely outside the club that can't be influenced by the people already there ....... Passion he has , loyalty he has , but to be coach long term not quite sure ........ I hope he proves me wrong if given the job ....... But we don't want to make the same mistakes they have made over the last 10 years or so .......
Who is your choice. Mine was a guy outside the box with heaps of coaching under his belt. But seems Michael Chieka is not even in the frame.

Sloan on that tackle was different, his angle of approach to blokes going down the sideline at times has been a little off and he has been stepped inside a bit too regularly. Seemed to get his positioning/timing right on that one yesterday and made the tackle. Was good.
He has learnt thats all you can ask of any player learn by your mistakes and don't keep making them

11 runs for 87m.
But where was his play making jo. He is wearing #7 on his back. I will admit the ball movement was superior to anything else this season but no line break/ assist or try assist next to K F's name. Is it not the done thing to promote Flegg players before Ressies, if it is there are two halves there, Hodges and McLaren that have virtually taken them to the top of the table. I can tell you now both are superior in management/awareness skill than our current pair.

Agree, but you simply cannot rush through your 6 and 7 from juniors to ressies to 1sts. It is in my personal view that it would do no justice or be any benefit to those players or the club.

Patience is a virtue, look at the unfortunate injury to our next big thing Reed, I said openly that he was just not physically ready for 1st grade on a weekly basis.

Further I have never regarded Flanagan as a genuine 7.

21s are not exactly juniors. Flegg seems the be like the poor cousin, ignored most of the time. But I have watched every on of our games for past two yrs and there are some good players, specially the roster this yr. Dont ignore the best of these as they could well play FG down the track. Past seasons there has been Lyric, Charlie, Jesse, TPH and Kade Reed of course. This season alone we have the promising Daniel and Creighton Meafou, the halves I mentioned, Lucas Borg and a prop named Carmichael. All definitely Ressies standard now..

Agree in my personal experiences it is easier to introduce backs into 1sts than play makers or forwards but that's just my view

Flegg to cup: big step up
Cup to 1st grade: huge step up

I thought Atkinson played well. Kyle was our worst by far yet again.

Just how good is this forward pack going to be next year? It's already pretty fuking good! Cook will be a big loss with the way he is playing but just ask that +*?(%$# Donkeys back up hooker/half, at the age Cook is now, his form might go downhill very fast.

How bad was that Donkeys back up hooker/half? I doubt they give him another year.

I just don't understand why Feagai doesn't play like that more often. In fact, he does it once a year for Donkey's games. He didn't do anything which requires great talent. Just went in looking for work and used his size to run hard and make a lot of metres. Also stayed in his wing in defence. That was where the Donkeys went wrong. Kept trying to go around our wingers, expecting them to rush in 20 metres in order to tackle thin air but they didn't and the Donkey's were turned around again and again.

S Flanagan's decision to have them switch sides for some reason was a bad bad mistake, but who could have predicted it? Except maybe *gestures around generally* LITERALLY EVERYONE

Anyway, a very nice performance that is completely replicable - there's no reason they can't do it again and again. Physically dominant in collisions, winning the field position battle regularly, offloading the ball, playing direct up the middle. Keep it comin
Seems like a common sense thing and something very doable if some of those young, ultra-fit middle forwards stay healthy. Rugby League is not a complicated game. Backs aren't good enough to take full advantage to make us premiership contenders but should be able to win a lot of games if the coach can motivate them properly and if the 1~7 don't make a lot of mistakes.

Though he was all at sea for the Broncos last try. Wandered in off his wing and was caught marking no one while their winger strolled over. Early on in the game, in the first 5 or 10min Tu got it right. He left it up to Suli to make the tackle on Ezra Mam. Had no choice but to do that or leave his winger unmarked for an easy try. Suli made the tackle and flung Mam over the sideline.

Hopefully this match has rejuvenated Val's game. Admitted that he has been slack for most part of the season and watched several YouTube highlights of himself, especially ones in 2022 when at the Cowboys. They brought him back to earth and it showed in this game against the Broncos that he still has it and so mentally, he needs to be tuned in and maintain his positive outlook now.

at least he has been away from the joint for a while ........
I dont see that as any great negative mate. Surely the relationship with your players and visa versa is more significant. To me he already looks to have the dressing room after that performance and what he and Cook said in post game presser.

David he is the fly in the ointment, still a yr to run on his contract at what I read is a cool $1m a season. So what happens if he gives us the same crap next yr, we are stuck with him. Tim and Ando have to bring in an import to cover for him. How are their negotiations going with Herbie Farnworth. Thankfully if worst scenario pops up we have some of our own next gen talent to take up the slack and have early exposure.
