this is funny .. we have the extra man yet its the knights throwing the ball around playing footy looking to get around us with an "underlap" ... we play up the middle with the usual dragons flair of one out bash n barge ...

SGI NSW Cup
Few NSW Cup Notes:
  • Knights had all the ball early and ran up a crazy 0-18 lead.
  • Forwards have been strong but the backs just every pass is missing its mark, behind players, in front of players, hospital passes, knock-ons.. my gosh its horrible watching... every pass a potential knock on in the making.
  • Eventually we got a try off our pressure, a CT barge over, first time I've seen TPH goalkicking.. hes been good.
  • Right before half time one of the Knights said something to Nick/Lawson.. it was enough that he got sent off for it... touchie overheard it.. helps a lot but its still a big half time lead for Newcastle.
  • 2nd half we get the first try with lots of big forward runs and LKT off the back 12-18.
  • Had a big overlap and refs call the pass forward.. srsly it was not forward, it was less forward than almost any cut-out pass I've seen.. Lawson denied.
  • Lawson almost scores again but 1m short.. then makes an error coming out of our end and we concede a clever grubber from the knights half.. nrly stopped it but alas 12-24.
  • Love the next try.. 30 passes nrly tackled numerous times... somehow it gets back to Hutchinson who puts an attacking kick in which bounces up perfectly for Haele lol.. 18-24.
  • Had our chances late to even it up but more errors chasing points.. very disappointing to lose, especially when the Knights had a man down for 40minutes.. O'Neill and LKT are just not working for us... 18-24 Loss.
  • Individual Player Notes: Fale finally back and was big and strong (though not fast or electric by any stretch).. but gives us a 1st grade option finally... TPH had great positioning and goalkicking.. CT was strong but some errors. Nick finally getting some runs with venom again since his injury. Lawson seemed to fire up after that send-off incident.. not sure where that energy has been the last year and a half.. that said his errors cost us a few tries which were the difference in the end.. and again the halves just making everything more difficult than it needs to be.
