Few Flegg Comments:
  • Mason Andrews on debut has been wonderful.. another young one in early (CMeafou and Burton 2 of the others).
  • Penrith are the *equal ladder leaders for a reason, they are so slick defensively, wrestle and holding us down in every single tackle.. like its trained into them obviously as part of their system... and every 5th tackle is a wonderful high bomb with a fast athletic back genuinely competing for the ball.. we have barely caught any of them in the collision.. thankfully we have had someone behind to clean up.
  • 6-12 Down at half time.. our one try was the play after a crazy Andrews charge/break. It was a McLaren charge over.. its very hard to score out wide against these guys, they defend properly.. we need individual brilliance or to go thru them I would think.
  • Spewing after Burton takes a speccy in attack and is pulled down just 2m from the tryline.. chucks it back but its knocked on..
  • Had our moments in the 2nd but was all a bit much, didnt have the polish.. few unforced errors from Saifiti and Afu stood out.. but they weren't alone.
  • Had a chance with 5mins to go, penrith player sent to the bin, we score the try and need to convert it to go 6-behind.. Kirk missed the goalkick from in-front.. once again nuts that we are using him as a kicker, its not something he has developed at all in his career..... Hodges and Burton are actual goalkickers.. there must be a reason.. but whatever it is.. it needs to change.
  • Burton crashes over with 1min left.. Kirk misses again.. have a couple of plays 4 points down.. not even time for a full set.
  • Holy sh**, we actually scored a try on fulltime too, ran the length to lock it up.. and f**k me another conversion attempt needed on fulltime.. and its Kirk again... this one from out wide.. and he misses another one.. 4 tries to 3 and a draw. 18-18 all.
  • Brave effort overall, just a few moments between a win and a loss.. im sure we will see them again in the finals.

It's such a shame.. those hands from Saifiti.. he is literally built like To'o, he is athletic, hes an absolute tank.. but he just finds a way to lose the ball in contact or catching.. its a bit like BRumble perhaps.. let down by his hands.. cant keep giving up errors.. TRumble I thought was the same but he seems to have rly improved in the last 12mths...

Afu yeah I've never rly been too confident in him.. again errors, but im not a big fan of the bigger tank like centres.. bit like Suli, I just dunno if thats the answer in the modern game.. in attack and defence.. but hes filling a position for now and we need players like that.. maybe until someone like Timmins is back, hes been out 'forever' and I think he actually has a dev contract in 2028, its been rly weird he has been in zero tackle's list for ages, and I always thought it was a typo.

Don't mean to notpick but it's been a miserable season so I feel it's important to give us credit where due. Penrith were not and are not now the ladder leaders. We are.

It's like the Dolphins winger Isaako used to be. But he seems to have sorted it out now. Hopefully Saifiti can as well.

curiously the 1st of the last three misses at goal probably got us the draw ...
If he kicks that then he winds the clock down on the 2nd kick trying to level the game and fucks it ... instead kick rushed miss and gives us the time to score the 3rd ...

I actually thought the same thing. It would’ve been good if he kicked the last goal though.

Another hard game next week against the Tigers who along with us and Penrith seem a bit better than the rest. Hopefully Jesse Williams will be back but hard to see any of those who were promoted to NSW Cup being dropped back.
