Thx for the team news Mug .. is Fagalilo still struggling with the headknock or they deciding ONeill gives more flexibility?

he has been pretty solid in the middle, bad mistake about 5 min ago but a run just now with fast play the ball got some momentum.
in that pack he doesnt need to run much, play long minutes, hold the middle .. good enough .. yes could run more but it just isnt needed from him, there are only 6 plays in a set ...


Nice break from C-L there down the right ... pity the ball didnt find its mark on the inside .. unusual watching fast backs play fast.

Is that Shadi there ko'd?

commentary is saying Amone activated now ... maybe needed the 15 minutes to lapse.

Tom Kirk didnt come back for the 2nd half with Afu playing wing now.

must be him as Meafou back on now.

Match Notes (Jersey Flegg):
  • Early error from 6. Hodges puts us on the back foot.. we defend it but Toby Rumble is pushed back 10m into the ingoal.. all is not lost as 7. Hammoud gets a short dropout into the flying hands of Hodges and were back on the attack.
  • We convert it too with Hammoud getting a lovely long ball to cut out 4 other players and Afu easily crashes over out wide. 4-0 up, Hodges unable to convert.
  • Couple of errors here, wild pass from the stand in hooker 9. Dextar Grant, not sure who to blame.. and off the back Kirk drops a pretty easy kick.. in any case we eventually get it back unscathed...
  • Had a huge set here all our forwards making big PCM.. off the back Campbell Lyons (bit of a forgotten centre) throws his winger over the touchline and lets him know.. and off the back Hikila charges over and and gets it down.. was off the back of another big charge from Treweek also who has put on some kilos.. not sure if its muscle exactly but his bulk and footwork is working. 10-0 up.
  • Kirk is not having a great game.. big tall winger, but probably 3-4 things that aren't great he's done today, not sure he's agile enough.
  • ok so Borg takes an excellent aerial bomb, into a line break from TRumble into another good run from 15. Plecas.. into a bulldogs error and we have gone 80m to be attacking their line.. DMeafou gets off a very late offload (this is the 2nd one already in this game), hes rly good at standing and fighting in tackles while keeping his arm free.. can I just say how nice it is to see this kid play footy again... and in the choas Treweek steps back inside for a nice try. 14-0... Hodges no good again with conversion, was very wide tbf.
  • Hammoud saved a runaway try here with a great cover tackle from behind on a rampaging dogs winger.. we scrambled well with Borg fielding an attacking 5th tacke kick and just getting out of the ingoals.. Borg has been rly strong today.. like lots of positive things hes done.. I didnt recognise him in trials as hes put a lot of bulk on.. which is not rly a thing fullbacks do anymore.. but so far so good..
  • Regardless the dogs end up on attack again and we rush them with a big defensive line.. and Campbell Lyons surprisingly is able to pick it up and run 75m to score.. never looked like getting caught which is impressive for a ctr.. little annoyed he didn't try to go under the posts though.. and it costs us too as Hodges stuffed his goalkick.. that is the sort of detail that could cost you a game.. but.. we are up 18-0 tbf.
  • We were on the attack again and I've given Borg some praise but he's given up an intercept here.. the dogs winger has rly long arms but this was a bad pass.. the dogs ctr is away and he pushes off Afu like he's nothing.. but Hammoud again comes late and grasses him.. his 2nd try saver, gj son... dogs attack is a bit of a rabble and we hold the dogs out again.. real price in their defence today.
  • Lot of razzle dazzle, offloads etc to finish the half.. was rly enjoyable.. Treweek killing it today... and on the buzzer Hammoud puts the perfect kick into the ingoal and Afu with noone anywhere near him knock it on.. so sad... but still 18-0 up.
2nd Half:
  • Carmichael has been strong off the bench against tired defence.. but tbf he's someone who was close to 1st grade selection so I expect him to destroy at this level.
  • Off a scrum.. strangely Toby and Campbell Lyon have switched and Toby actually slices from ctr and sets up Campbell on the wing.. who then passes back inside but its just behind Toby who cant drag it in.. exciting but this is now the 3rd or 4th mistake in the 2nd half.. we are giving the dogs lots of opportunities.
  • Oh no.. Hammoud is out cold after a forward changed direction late on him and just got caught as the man in the middle..that's rly sad, his first game in ages and was playing so well.. he was able to walk off the field atleast with assistance.
  • Crazy stuff, 70mins into the game... we've had so many half breaks and just given the ball back with another play the ball error of similar.. but some defence and some luck or a bulldog error.. not a point scored by either team so far in the half.
  • Finally in the 72minute and repeated possession we go in.. honestly our forwards have been threatening but rly no strike from our backline who have been swallowed up or passes knocked down all game.. but the hooker goes to pass on 5th tackle and a player is in his way so he has to go himself.. and he's able to plonk it down.. not flashy but it'll do.. 22-0... Baldock takes over kicking and misses it damn.. we are 1from5.
  • Very next set we batter our way up field and with a 6-again..somehow able to put on an attacking play on the 5th.. Treweek grubbers through and the 18th man in Viliame Amone (not sure how he's on the field) somehow gets it down before the deadball line and in front of the sticks.. finally we convert 28-0 up.
  • Ultimately we were too good in the first half.. we have a lot of NSW Cup level players here including CST who's a Development NRL player and rly should be in cup.. our 2nd half was truly awful though.. mistakes on every set essentially.. but the dogs were awful the entire match.. regardless great way to get the season underway and blow the cobwebs out... Hammoud will be missing for 10 days minimum though.. 28-0 Win.
