With the ball, he was too good for cup 2 years ago. But he needs to work on his D. He's a very promising player.

I didnt think the hit on Reed was too bad, a little late but he did run into the line.. whether it was high though thats probably the issue.. hes gonna cop that deluxe in first grade.. its part of the process I guess. Remembering we lost Hammoud to HIA in the game before also failed, but that one was his own fault..

And yes LKT imo hasnt stood out since leaving SG Ball.. hes fine out there today but hes not dominating or anything.. O'Neill had moments but he has a surprising number of kicks go out or passes find the ground for such an experienced half.. its a rly bad sign for his future I feel.. tbf though he didnt know he was gonna be playing 77mins at halfback today.

Sloan is atleast trying today, had a couple of defensive plays including chasing down an intercept (with tph) and a few hitups.

Its hard cause TPH rly isnt a winger.. he needs to be in the centre in support I feel if ur gonna play him.. very curious what they have planned for him.

There was definitely a period of time in cup where LKT was like the best player in cup getting 2-3 try involvements every week

The problem I have with LKT is he doesn’t get his hands on the ball enough and when he does he just shovels it on quickly most of the time

Match Notes (Knock on Effect Cup):

• ok early dogs mistake and we attack their line.. Haele is back to hooker gets it to Reed on the left, Reed takes a huge hit after he passes the ball to LKT (Halangahu the decoy), LKT to Feagai at left ctr who beats 3 with a bit of space to get us underway. Note that Feagai is left ctr with TPH outside him.. must be Buchanan and Fale on right side. 4-0.
• Oh fark.. 3mins in and Kade Reed off HIA I assume after that lateish hit.. 3mins into the game (went on to fail it).. this might be a taste of the future sadly hes gonna cop those.... Sloan is goalkicking which I have never seen.. but 6-0 gg.
• LPT looks energetic early which is good.. noting its against the dogs.. poor old TPH on left wing being sent every 5th tackle bomb.. all of em.. 2 errors from Nick in the first half also..
• We eventually give up points a few mins from half time.. defence wasn't rly set after a good dogs run and they were too good for Buchanan and Fale. 6-4. Half Time.
• Been a set for set pretty high quality game, Sloan has had some nice moments in defence, him and TPH chased down a long range intercept.. which for some reason the ref didn't call knocked on cause it so clearly was..
• 54mins in we finally get to attack from 30m out.. ONeill is caught with the ball and we spread it right.. LKT rly has no options and grubbers it through.. Nick wants it more and somehow beats their fullback to ground it.. well done had an average game but that's a nice moment. 10-4, tough kick for Sloan.
• After a great set and 40m run from Hutcho.. LKT has delivered a 70m intercept to the dogs.. damn it.. 10-10.
• 68mins in.. finally after saving a bulldogs raid.. Nick makes us about 40m with effort.. hard to explain how that played out.. but we got to start our set on the dogs 40m line.. LPT fresh on has a good hit up, then Halangahu just carries a few over and manages to wrestle the ball to the ground.. we needed that, its next to the posts also... omg Sloan has missed from in front fmd.. 14-10 up.
• We couldn't put the game away.. with 30 seconds left the dogs prop made a clean break but the pass went to Buchanan thank god.. and we win.. rly goalkicking was the issue, and we played the game without our halfback which was huge.. he would have been a big difference, good wins in flegg and cup though 14-10 Win.

Good that we won both grades, shame now we dont get to see Reed for another 2 weeks. Plus we need another Goal kicker other than Sloan.

Thought Buchanan was good today, in fact I think there are several young guys who looked good today

Buchanan/Tsougranis/Halangahu notable, really would like us to be more comfortable with using either of the latter 2 if there are injuries in the forwards. They look so solid defensively

I’m not a big Sloan guy but he was good, work ethic looked much improved

LKT and LPT were ok but for the talent they have I expect way more at this level

Losing our conductor is a big deal though, rly had noone pulling the strings today, LKT stepped up a little bit late in the game but its a different level that Reed brings.. but also general field kicking and goalkicking.. I didnt realise Reed was our only kicker.. I guess Glover was it before, and even Ramsey took the odd one.. Sloan nailed his first one from half way out which amazed me.. but missed the next 2 including 1 right in front which is very hard to do... went off at 45 degrees.

Gonna be out him for atleast next week also.. up against the Storm...

If he can play the whole year in ressies, that'll be ideal but struggling teams sometime have to push the envelope when it comes to promoting young players.
