Reed to Firsts.I missed the first half. What happened to the starting halves?
Starting halves were Quinn and LKT.Reed to Firsts.
His hands let him down. Like I said he has been good up in top grade, did not deserve being dropped.I thought Sele was really disappointing.
Can’t say that I agree with Sele being good in 1sts and didn’t deserve to be dropped. He’s had a few very ordinary games this yearHis hands let him down. Like I said he has been good up in top grade, did not deserve being dropped.
Dont reckon Rumble is a first grader, so have to disagree with you.
WE missed Loko and Jake, specially out disgruntled giant. Better get some mins tonite to give him a taste again of what Flanagan has denied him so far.
Match Notes (NSW Cup):
- Reed and LPT up in first grade, Quinn comes into the 7 and Sele into the pack. Buchanan back from injury also.
- We had a good first set but Souths scored off theirs.. long range, think it was Lawson missing a tackle.. disappointing 0-4.
- Haele off for a HIA just a few minutes into the game.. such a shame.. that rly messes us up hes been one of our best.
- CST also off HIA farrrk think that brings Purcell in due to 2 HIA's.
- 18min - Hutcho is playing like a player who had his contract upgraded this week.. pass to LKT with a sort of no look short pass to Treweek (borderline forward) but Treweek almost stopped he was so shocked but went on to run the lasty 20m and score, 6-4. No Reed means no goalkicker either.. thankfully this one is in front for Kirk.
- 24min - Late offload from Souths near the line and we cant stop their ctr 6-10.
- 27min - Glover with a long cutout and they burn us, but it still took a super athletic flying putdown from Mazzone which he completely bounced but no video refs.. 6-14.
- 39min - Bit lucky here.. standard penalty for yet another head high off a TPH kick return.. LKT puts thru a grubber which hits the defender but sort of bounces randomly out of the fullbacks hands.. and into Treweeks for an easy 2nd try .. again thankfully in front, Kirk doesn't seem comfortable goalkicking, they come off super slow off his boot, nonetheless... 12-16 HALF TIME.
- 44min - Webster and DMeafou pick up and drive in a tackle and force an error.. off the scrum we get TPH into a little bit of space and hes able to capitalise somehow slicing his way thru and getting over out wide.. no chance for Kirk, we rly need a backup goalkicker if Reed is going to play in 1sts... 16-16.
- 49min - Fagalilo injured but plays on, LKT also HIA and taken off.. real trouble here with a repeat set from Souths coming... we survive..
- 54mins - were unable to do anything attacking their line and off the back a scoot from dummy half and we have guys walking back and tackles missed.. and meh long range try 16-22. Nathan Lawson has gone off HIA here (our 4th one btw).
- We've rly lost our way here, no Reed, no LKT, no Quinn.. just individuals in attack not rly knowing what to do... TPH sort of grubbering the best he can.
- 69mins - another forward pass thru our line and the winger wrongfoots Kirk to go in out wide, Kirk has been out yonks with his ACL, been back a bit now.. I feel like that frame worked 5-10yrs ago, but not sure big tall frames can work now unless u also have acceleration.. maybe he can move into a forward role or something in time.. dunno. 16-28.
- 72min - TRumble grabs a simple intercept as souths push long balls off their line 22-28..
- 78min - we almost go in with a long pass from TPH to TRumble on the wing.. its ruled forward it rly wasn't.. certainly no more than several of the souths tries.. was no way Kirk was kicking it though so maybe doesn't matter.. shame though cause we've been brave without any playmakers.. just lots of forwards bashing it up... wasn't to be 22-28 Loss... 4 HIA's in 1 game fark me.. will struggle to field a side next week.
I often wonder if first grade was killing it, would I still be as interested in pathways etc? I never rly understand why league loving friends and family have zero interest in the talent coming up the pipeline.. or sitting in reserve grade.. honestly they barely know the players names...how many times in the last few years has it gotten to around this stage of the season and I’m more checked into the lower grades than the NRL side?
Honestly, I know I'm a massive debbie downer here (and will look silly if we smash the storm)... but I've emotionally checked out for this year... I barely watched 1st grade on the weekend.. just want it to hurry up and be done, so we can move into 2027 and hopefully have KK + 2 or 3 new first grade players, 2 experienced couchies, Egan etc and then I think we can atleast be in with an actual punchers chance of making the Top 8... on top of that... hopefully within 12months we know what's going on with the coach too.. that could be a real disruption.
He was immense yesterday. 67 fantasy points. 20 runs, 230 metres, a line break, 5 tackle breaks, 10 tackles with only one miss, and 2 forced dropouts. I was worried for TPH because of his size, but it hasn't stopped him at all. I'm actually backiing him to play NRL one day now. He is a very talented little guy. He's a little terrier.
