NSW Cup Notes:
  • Few missing due to 1st grade injuries, guys like Haele and Buchanan up in 1st grade extended + Hutcho missing assumed injured. Just realised Iongi, Pezet, Twidle all playing for Parra.
  • Lots of rly poor errors early letting parra have all the running and CST limping off 6mins after a hip drop the ref didn't see.. not good.. Coutts @ ctr as it is we r so stripped for numbers this week.
  • 7min: Pezet got the repeat set and managed to do it all himself on in the next set 0-4.
  • 12min: We have maybe 24 straight tackles on their line and don't even look like threatening.. just forwards trying to burrow over (which went close tbf).. hard to put finger on what's wrong.. maybe no Haele or Quinn @6 or missing centres with Lawson and Coutts filling the spots.
  • 17min: So Jacob has been penalised for high contact earlier and now spear tackles a bloke and gets sent to the bin.. to be fair to say maybe hes unsettled.
  • 35min: Unlucky Hikila has come on and is skittling blokes, Halangahu is re-energised after his sin bin but were struggling in the halves to do anything with the possession.. and we've let a try in here pezet drops the ball and it happens to drop into Iongi's hands, some back and forth and eventually Iongi goes in.. 0-8. HALF TIME.
  • 52min: Finally after tonnes of errors from both sides, Sele just gets it down.. probably our 15th forward barge play at the line 6-8... thankfully kick is in front cause neither squad has a goalkicker.
  • 59min: Twidle splits us and this bluddy second rower from Parra Kautoga backs up and scores.. the bloke is faster than I all of our backline.. its crazy for his size 6-14.
  • 63min: Kautoga with a late offload puts his 5/8 away.. 6-20.
  • 76min: That f**king #12 Kautoga just hit ONeill late and high and farking hard after he passed it.. will need to check for HIA after this game. Quinn managed to slide in after a fast play the ball.. gets hurt in the process but scores to get the score more respectable. 12-20 FINAL SCORE.
  • Ultimately halves and centres didn't work today.. no creativity and O'Neill essentially put up a bomb on every single 5th tackle no matter what was in front.. was just a frustrating game to watch and nothing rly like our other games this season.. up against warriors next weekend also will not be easy!

Is Talau too busy with 1st grade perhaps now? Hard to believe the game-plan was put a bomb up on every single set no matter what.. Quinn struggled a bit too, he juggled the ball maybe 4-5 times I think in the game when taking a conventional catch.

Hikila was a standout for me along with TPH.. Webster solid.. Halangahu solid in 2nd half.. lost it a bit in the 1st, noone else rly, Lawson has just not got better sadly.. Coutts at ctr didnt threaten sadly.. mistakes from both wingers.. probably missed Haele also.

Unfortunately Hammoud will be out all season also, Reed for 2-3mths, gonna be tough going in the halves department...

they mentioned with Boyd the ground gave way as he stepped.. the reality of magic round.. and of course we are last to play.. thankfully we dont have anyone who can step I guess.

As I said our game will be played on a cow paddock if the rain reaches Brisbane it could cause unnecessary injuries.

Boyd tried to step and the grass has been cut vert short and he just slipped, very unfortunate. On a bright note the Warriors are putting the ponies to the sword

Two held ups, Jake and was it Meafou? Their on line defense was very strong almost brutal. Had they both been six pointers the end result could have been in our favor with the momentum gained from them. Then again we had no answer to Pezet who gave O'Neill a bath plus Longi and their big Polynesian prop..
